Is Chase Young that Good?

Giantophile : 12/1/2019 6:03 pm
I haven't watched much college ball this year. He's been touted by all as a can't-miss savior -- is he THAT good? Like perennial DPOY candidate?

I know the stats are good but some of the clips I've seen he just seems to speed rush around the end...which is effective but not a path to dominance in the NFL. Not saying he's not, but is there a decent chance he's not nearly as "generational" as everyone thinks?
Yes.

Fire Betcher. ASAP. Don’t let that idiot ear this kid. Another scheme first head up his ass coach who has no fucking clue how to actually work who he has. Draft him. find a DC who will coach up the young talent this team does have. Young w Lawrence, Tomlinson and Hill would be amazing w the right coach
Yes

He is very very good. His Ohio State tape looks better then both of the Bosa boy's tapes. He is going to be a stud
More raw talent then the bosas

Not sure if he has the same heart
If he is really that good,
fivehead : 12/1/2019 6:22 pm : link
then expect the Giants to win a game or two this year and miss out on him.
I only saw him against

After I

made this post I decided to do a little research. Granted it's just youtube, but between this video, the stats, the scouting reports heaping universal praise and the fact he was a top 5 ranked HS player in the county...I'm convinced.

Get this kid in blue and let's get back to getting after the Q.
Chase Young is the goods - ( New Window )

I thought I read where he played with two sprained ankles for much of his sophomore season. What makes you question his heart?

Wow that escalated quickly. Why is race coming up at all? Unless your goal is to get this thread deleted.
I hope not another Vernon Golhstein

Shows that kind of effort when things are not going his way. When they do he plays like a monster.0
bay all accounts

he profiles at least as good as the Bosa brothers. That said, we have alot of needs heading into next season.

If I remember correctly, Gholston was incredibly strong and relied exclusively on bull rushing and overpowering OT’s in college. Young isn’t doing that and looks like a far more complete player.

Nick Bosa literally decided not to come back from injury and play at Ohio State

I can guarantee I'm not the only one who had that thought reading the post.
Yes he is that good

If not LT, think Derrick Thomas
Its time Giants get their own premiere pass rusher
Danny Dimes : 12/1/2019 8:38 pm : link
LT, Strahan,Umenyiora, Tuck, Jpp, Chase Young
Even if he’s not as good as

advertised he’s still light years better than any defender we currently have. Sign me up.
I remember all the Clowney hype
bradshaw44 : 12/1/2019 9:29 pm : link
And watching his game against Clemson and totally buying in. Yet he hasn’t translated in the pros. He’s good, but he hasn’t been the sure fire HOFer everyone was saying. I worry Young could be the same. But I don’t follow CFB closely. What are people’s thoughts on his hype compared with Clowney?

Huh? Are you saying white players have more heart than black players? Or you think that’s the previous posters line of thinking? Odd take.
He's certainly lived up...
bw in dc : 12/1/2019 9:40 pm : link
to the expectations. Definitely worth a high selection.

I think he's actually been pretty impressive against the run, too.

I was thinking that he looks a lot like Z’Darius Smith, who I wanted NYG to sign this past offseason.

I watched the Michigan game and he was jogging slowly behind plays sometimes. Zero tackles. Like Clowney he’s built like a Greek god, but he’s surrounded by great players — we’ll just have to hope he’s got the heart and motor.
Not as SKILLED as Bosa

who's a refined technician, but a whole lot more athletic. 2 entirely different animals, hard to go wrong with either. Bosa was a slightly safer prospect, Young has a higher ceiling which is saying a lot.

He's worth a #1 overall pick.
He could be. He's explosive. The question I can't answer is does he
MM_in_NYC : 12/2/2019 3:27 am : link
have the mental game like Stra did. I can't answer that. Maybe someone else can. I think we've seen that it takes more than just talent to make it in the NFL.

He’s not Clowney, he’s better. I’ve watched him play majority of the year and this kid is it. He’s explosive, he’s strong and he’s smart, he’s the best player in college football. If he’s there, you take him and don’t look back
