Calls that are clearly missed and reviewed are still being upheld. That "catch" last night in Houston that was clearly NOT a a catch was still upheld. WTF is the NFL doing?
Catch that commercial yesterday showing how the NFL is a better and safer product because how they identified the blind side block and wedge block and removing them from the game. if you ask most fans those two things actually just removed special teams away from the game more then anything else you almost never see a kick return for a TD and most decent returns are called back for a flag it just saddens me to what the game was once like.
along with the worst officiating in sports, which makes the pacing even worse.
The NFL is pretty unwatchable. I put it on for background noise at this point and just watch highlights unless there's a very compelling game. The NFL doesn't deserve my time anymore.
As someone that had the Raiders yesterday that overturn was horseshit Â
He's right, 10 penalties on Raiders but zero on Chiefs plus that overturn. What the fuck is that all about? I'm not a conspiracy guy but its almost like the NFL wants to gurantee the Chiefs get in there and having calls dictated from a central location isn't helping perception.

It's mind boggling, and killing the NFL overall product.
They set an NFL record this past weekend by being the only NFL team to ever lose to 2 teams with a record of 0-7 or worse twice in the same season.
Dolphins and the Bengals..
lol..
Yeah, .......and they beat us. When I see my Jets fan buddy at the gym tonight id LOVE to be able to say "ha ha Dolphins and Bengals", but again.....we LOST to the team that LOST to the Bengals and Dolphins!!! The right to make fun of the Jets for this season went out the window on that day.

and the officiating in general, although his rants on Steratore, Pereira and other TV personalities is off base. Those guys are doing their job of explaining the rules. They didn't create this complicated situation.
The NFL is trying for an impossible level of accuracy… Â
… and they've reached the point of diminishing returns. They're slowing the game down more and more but still not always getting the calls right. Now we get to argue over what "clear and convincing" means, or whatever the standard is. Plus the standard for replay is so uneven that it calls the integrity of the league into question
I think legalized sports betting will only make this worse. There will have to be a way to overturn bad calls, because there's going to be so much legal money bet on the games. In that respect, replay is going to be important to protect the game from charges that the officials are fixing games. But the league is still reluctant to overturn calls on the field, even pretty obvious errors, and that is going to enrage bettors.
I don't see a solution short of simply telling everyone: "The games aren't going to be perfect, sometimes your team is going to get hosed by a bad call and everyone's going to have to live with that."

They explain the rules, but almost always go along with the results of the review, even if they initially interpret the play differently. They seem to be shills for the league.

It has made a mockery of replay, especially the PI rule. The goal should be get it right, not just make the on field officials feel good about their initial call.
It's gotten bad enough, I would advocate for there being no limit on challenges, or at least a higher limit with less punitive measures for failed challenges. I would also advocate for having an official in the booth or a suite of officials in the league offices to handle all reviews, taking it out of the hands of the crew on the field.
and it didn't end up really mattering, but what was the reason they said it wasn't PI at the end when the SF defender nailed Andrews in the head before the ball got there?

He is not off base. He is spot on. He was saying nobody wants to fucking listen to them during the game. They make a shit situation worse. Can't stand them.
Like I have been saying on here for a few years. The NFL is the game show Press Your Luck. Run a play...... Maybe stop on a Whammy.
RE: RE: I agree 100% with his take on adding rules Â

They're good in theory but are not impartial observers so as you said they make a shit situation worse. They're propagandists. Hell in the rare situation that they do disagree with a bad ref call it just adds to the agitation of the call for me. They add nothing positive of value.
Watching borderline PI calls overturned yesterday Â
Like the defensive holding/PI call on the Raiders down near the goalline.... but we had much more obvious and direct calls against Dallas and Arizona not overturned.... just really makes you wonder what the league is trying to accomplish There is zero consistency or understanding of what constitutes PI
