but claim Haskins numbers jaded because he had superior talent but Joe Burrow is a stud after 1 great year with superior talent.
No thanx to Burrow, Tua, Fromm or any other qb
Jones is the face of this team for the next 15 years
Time to start using the draft capital to build around him
You think MacDoo/Reese and Shumur/DG were allowed to draft a qb their first year?
So now we give that right to the new regime?

wants to get rid of jones. If you're referring to the other thread about letting a new regime pick their QB that's a different story and your narrative doesn't accurately reflect the full context of that conversation.

This is hard for you to comprehend, but Benny and Pat had a proven QB that is responsible for half the hardware in the trophy case in the Super Bowl era. DJ is setting his own records for a rookie and he shows promise. But there is a difference in having an entrenched 2x SB MVP on the roster for a new coach and an unproven rookie.
A new regime/staff should be given the choice whether to work with DJ or go in a different direction. Hiring a new staff with the conditions attached reeks of the dysfunction that so many want to rail about.
We stink. We aren't good enough to have sacred cows. They all can go to slaughter including DJ, Barkley, and the rest of the 51 players. We are capable of losing in historic fashion with them. We are certainly capable of losing without them.

So the Giants made a bad decision in the past so they should exacerbate it by making the same mistakes in the future? Sounds like a foolish way to run a franchise!

To add, we are entering historic territory with the losing. We currently are sitting at #2 - a feat prior to Barkley was LT in '81. We may end up with the #1 pick if the Red Rifle can muster another win while we lose out. The last #1 pick for the Giants was in 1965.
If we remain at the top of the draft, the pre-draft process should evaluate all positions and that includes QB.
Jones has show great promise but also warts. Hopefully the warts are curable and he continues to build on his ability. But if a competent NFL GM takes over, he should be able to determine that for himself without a mandate that organization build around DJ. To the extent a new GM decides DJ is the guy, great that's another vote of confidence.
I don't think the league allows this anymore. You can't trade a drafted player for some period of time.
I saw some "What If" kind of posts, like What if they decide not roll with DJ, then what can be gotten for him in a trade. But I don't think the folks doing that analysis were suggesting that as the best course. Of course I might be wrong about that, but that was my interpretation.
I will let Terps speak for himself.
But my interpretation of what he said was that he is not sold on Jones one way or the other. At the moment, he may be down on him more than most here, but I didn't get the impression that he was calling Jones a failure and time to move on....
