will be a guy coming from a HC position. He doesn’t think they will go with a coordinator again. He then brought up Matt Ruhle as a name he’s been hearing a lot of. And we all know Big Mike knows all, so there you have it.
I’m know Francesca fan and this is not meant to bash him or praise him but it’s not hard to predict a that a new coach won’t pan out. You got better than a 50-50 shot to be right based on league track record. Personally (and I think this is where Mike and I agree) going after the flavor of the year coordinator is unlikely to work out as they often fail to transition into being a true HC and too frequently operate as super coordinators. So I’m not that impressed when anyone says that a new HC who made his money being a successful coordinator wont work out. It’s a pretty easy prediction.
with Mike. It will be someone with success as a Head Coach.
Mara took a chance with McAdoo. He then went with Shurmur probably in hopes of a good offense and developing a new QB. Both have failed badly. He will certainly go with demonstrated success this time.
The word I always hear is continuity from Mara. He greatly admires the Steelers and how they went from Knoll to Cowher and now Tomlin. My bet is they go for Rhule with the hopes of a very long tenure. The fallback will be Rivera if he shakes loose imo.
And if Carolina parts ways with Rivera, then he'll be on the short list.
Please please please.
Him and Norv.
I know it isn't a sexy pick with Norv being in the league since forever. But what he has done with CMC, there is no reason to not expect the same from Barkley. Norv knows his role. Rivera delegates authority and expects his staff to what they do well.

Rivera would make a seamless transition. DG never hired Rivera in Carolina, but he also didn't fire him (not sure if DG had the authority with the Panthers organizational structure). They seemed to work well together.
If it includes recent or current college head coaches too then that’s another story (you could toss a whole bunch in there then no matter how realistic or not (Harbaugh, Rhule, Meyer, Riley, Peterson, Brian Kelly).
I think there’s a good chance it’s either going to be McCarthy or Rivera if he shakes loose out of Carolina. I think Rivera would give it one more go as a head coach if he doesn’t feel like he needs a break. Problem is, one year out of the league doesn’t guarantee any consideration a year or two later with hot assistants coming in vogue every couple years. McCarthy himself is lucky a few guys have blown up badly and looks like he might get a pick em between Cleveland, Skins, Giants.
And if Carolina parts ways with Rivera, then he'll be on the short list.
If Rivera is available and brings Norv Turner along with him then I consider it a huge win. There is also no risk of losing Turner as his days as a HC are over.
...when Mike asked a tough question that every Giants fan wanted to know. "You have a 15-36 record as a head coach, why should Giants fans believe you are the guy to turn this around?"
I know this is said tongue-in-cheek, but he might be on the outs in Jax. He'll likely just retire in lieu of being fired. The QB decisions alone might be enough. The Bortles Experiment ended and the Foles era is over. They will likely look to trade him to get out from his 2020 salary while having to eat the signing bonus. Foles was benched yesterday for the return of Minshew Mania. Marrone named Minshew the starter going forward today.
Alphabetical by team, omitting NYG for obvious reasons:
Dan Quinn, ATL
Ron Rivera, CAR
Freddie Kitchens, CLE
Jason Garrett, DAL (barring a Coughlin-like run in the playoffs)
Matt Patricia, DET
Doug Marrone, JAX
Anthony Lynn, SDG
If all or most of those dismissals happen, there will be far more vacancies than attractive candidates. I guess Lynn, Rivera, or Quinn would merit an interview. And Marrone's name always pops up in connection with the Giants.
Adam Gase, Matt Nagy, Vic Fangio and Bill Callahan are probably safe through 2020.

Juggrernaut, let me preface this by saying this is not a shot at you or your post.
I am sick of hearing about Mara and continuity. Continuity is a great thing...when you have the right people in place to run your football team.
The Steelers can maintain continuity because they hire good people to run the team. The last time the Steelers had a losing season was 2003. The last time they had more than two consecutive losing seasons was in the late 60s through 1971! Since 1971, they have had only 7 losing seasons! We've had losing records in 6 of the last 7 seasons and Mara wants to talk about continuity!
We have a terrible head coach and a possibly even worse GM. Rip the fricken' band aid off and get rid of these two clowns. In addition, the hell with Ernie Accorsi's recommendations on who should be hired. He's been out of the league for over 10 years. At this point does he really have any idea which young forward thinking guys should be considered for GM and/or Head Coaching positions.
Noting the lack of comment form the owner or GM. When his gettleman feud erupted during training camp, I though Dave was right. Now you can see he is just thin skinned too. I'm actually taking Mara's silence as a sign that he's cleaning house.
If you don't think Mara's listening you haven't been paying attention.
Mara wants to win, and (I believe) to make the fanbase happy. That's the one thing we have going for us.
It is why I closed my wallet and stopped watching. If enough enough of us did, change would come faster. If we reward 10-34 with our money, we deserve the shit we get.
I have lived in Washington state since 2002 and have resisted becoming a Seahawk fan even though my daughter was born here. I watched them last night with enthusiasm. DJ Fluker was knocking people all the way downfield like a fucking cement truck. With Daniel Jones and SB we could run their offense. It is physical and bullying, fun to watch. They run Wilson until they spy him. Run Jones.
As a matter of fact, we should pilfer someone from their front office. I want their model. I want a team that looks and plays like the Seahawks do.
That knock Francesa are just that, fools, he has not been wrong about the Giants, he has been correct, nobody is 100% correct, including the full of themselves on here, and they are not the majority, we all have been wrong about some things. I thought Gettleman would be okay here for a few years, I thought he could fix the offensive line and his drafting history told me that he should be good here, after I watched Reese in the draft I thought he could not miss, I was wrong, deal wrong. This guy stinks and has done a horrible job, his drafts are okay, but they are not great and still to be determined.
Jones and Barkley will be his legacy and both of them are no sure thing at this point, the jury is out. Mike thought we should get the pass rusher, who can argue with that, and let Eli play one more year, helping him out, which means continuing to improve the offensive line, we picked three first round picks and not one was an offensive lineman, and the offensive line is as bad as it gets, the pass rush stinks, and the team with Jones is 2-8, you can not make an argument that it is all going as planned, because it is not.
There is no sure thing now, and Francesa needs to continue to totally abuse this organization, because they have earned it, remember, they are still making money hand over fist, it is us fans that are left frustrated and powerless, so we have every right to voice our opinion about this organization and I love it when Francesa abuses them on the air at this point, that is the only thing that can help lead to change, because this stupid owner needs to be hit over the head with a shovel to wake up.

Even though his power has waned, I think Mara still views Mike as the voice of NY sports.

Jets had both, Belichek told them to go f themselves though
After Week 17 in 2016, Francesa raved about McAdoo, saying that "the Giants have found their coach."
Bill Cowher
Dick Vermeil still alive?
After Macs first year, he said the Giants had their HC for the next ten years

JDR has had opportunities with 2 different teams as HC. At best, he wasn't terrible. No thanks.
