Louis Riddick? He wanted Haskins over Jones. That alone would have negated any potential positives in other areas over Gettleman.
LOL less than one season into their nfl careers you’re adamant about declaring jones the better player? Get off your high horse. They both have a long way to go before they’re anywhere close to winning caliber QBs.

wouldn't have been a choice - he would've ripped off the band-aid and taken darnold in 2018.

Nope, he’s on record saying he would’ve taken Barkley or Chubb

No high horse. I think it is clear ever since draft day that Haskins wasn't a fit here whether it be his reaction to not being drafted, to not having his HC support him, to rumors of laziness, to video of him not involved during the game, to him missing a snap in a game because he was taking a selfie, or to his actual poor play on the field. Yes, much is left to be decided and neither are guaranteed of anything but Haskins would have been eaten alive already if he was selected for this team.

After week four, Jones looked like a much better pick. You can’t say that now. I would still take Jones but it is not a lock he is the better QB. Haskins had only one year as a starter
Many people have said, regarding all major sports, that you can't Â

Giants weren't the only team who passed on Haskins. Several other QB needy teams did.
rebuild in New York because the media and the fans are too impatient.
This may very well be true
It's not. The Rangers did/are and the Yankees rebuilt, although they managed to do it practically overnight. And it's easier to rebuild in a hurry in the NFL than it is in the NHL or MLB.
In fact let me take the blue shirts as the counterpoint to the Giants. Ownership admitted where they were and told the fans as much and asked for patience, if not in those exact words. The Giant's FO meanwhile keeps trying to sell that they're going to compete

It's the NFL - where rebuilds are supposed to take 2 seasons thanks to a parity based system that's supposed to encourage player mobility and prevent teams from staying in the cellar for too long.
Unless they can't get out of their own fucking way...
at #1. Ereck Flowers, Eli Apple...good God. I don't even want to look back and think about who we could have had instead, just in the first round of some of these drafts.

This right here. It's a poor excuse to say that the team couldn't rebuild because of the potential fan/media reaction. All it takes is some good PR spin behind a unified plan. Add public relations to another category the Giants seem inept at.
Even then - and I hammer this point often - the Philadelphia 76ers did a multi-year rebuild with Sam Hinkie being terrible at PR, and it still didn't matter in the end, they have the number one attendance in the league now.

It is, and always has been, a horseshit take. New York sports fans can handle a rebuild. What they don't appreciate is when they know a fucking rebuild is on the horizon and the team acts as though they're contenders.
NY isn't too impatient for a rebuild. They ARE too impatient to wait for a GM to catch on to what was already obvious to everyone but the mouthbreather callers on WFAN - then it just becomes a waste of time, which is what the entirety of the 2018 offseason has already become.
We could have already finished two rebuilds since the time that the Giants should have seen the writing on the wall in 2013. Instead, we're barely halfway through one and our GM still makes moves that are inconsistent with being fully committed to the rebuild in the first place.
That's what NY is too impatient for, but I don't think it's particularly unique to NY.

Add Coughlin to the list. He was part of the talent evaluation snd lobbied hard for guys like Flowers.

Him and that Dunleavy
Their podcast is the worst
NJ.com eagles sports writers have an update every few days
Those losers post a video every few weeks
Lazy journalism and have no respect or love for the Giants
Go back and cover the eagles - hacks

Just because he felt Barkley was the best player in draft does not mandate an overall view.
Their more progressive GM choice wanted Haskins..Com'On Man!
Might not be obvious but this team is more talented but youth and poor coaching is not showing any progress.
DG can not afford another mistake with the coaches
An argument can be made that hiring Gettleman as general manager perhaps set the Giants back a decade.
He doesn’t even mention the ridiculous Williams trade.
