Glazer on Garrett/Giants Rumors

The Giants have familiarity with him but no, I don't see that happening right now. I know it's been rumored but I think it's just a rumor

From Glazer's mailbag on The Athletic. Not an outright denial that it will never happen, but Glazer has the most credibility of all the insiders and this would seem to confirm Garrett is not plan A (yet).
That's somewhat of a relief
arniefez : 12/3/2019 1:57 pm : link
he knows what's going on more than anyone and that could have been worse.
Garrett was never happening
Torrag : 12/3/2019 1:58 pm : link
Guy has no balls. If he did he would have told JJ to fuck off and walked long ago.
I think it more likely than not that Garrett's people leaked the rumor
moespree : 12/3/2019 1:58 pm : link
Not the Giants.
Thank god.
truebluelarry : 12/3/2019 2:05 pm : link
I would not accept Garrett as the Giants HC. I'd go dormant with my fandom and find something else to do with my Sundays.
Glazer has generally been accurate with Giants info
Greg from LI : 12/3/2019 2:06 pm : link
So this is very relieving.
Glad to hear.
bceagle05 : 12/3/2019 2:07 pm : link
I'm guessing Garrett's agent leaked that Giants stuff to gain a little leverage for an extension with the Cowboys. Nice try.
So this isn't
Amtoft : 12/3/2019 2:14 pm : link
Myles Garrett... nothing to see here.
Depending on the road they need to get there I could see Cowboys makin
Zeke's Alibi : 12/3/2019 2:17 pm : link
NFC championship game and retaining Garrett. I think Saints are big time frauds.

exactly. I can't think of a worse hire. Can you imagine that "hat trick" of McAdoo, Shurmur and Garrett??
so

why didn't someone ask him - if he is hearing any names, faves?
I hope he is right..

Garrett is equal to Andy Dalton in that its basically purgatory. he isn't the worst coach but you ain't winning because of him..

I can't see Dallas beating SF/SEA and then SF/SEA/GB/NO unless they really get their shit together fast
Someone mentioned it on...

another thread - what if Rivera is canned and old buddy Gettleman hires him to make us Panthers North?

I would dislike that combination as much as Garrett-Gettleman.

I think Rivera is likely a serious candidate, especially if Gettleman is retained. You may have to get used to that one. I think I would still like Garrett or Rivera more than Shurmer, regardless.
glazer is always right

don't see it happening - but I wonder how Rivera would do with a solid OC?
Just fire everyone.
Ceez2.0 : 12/3/2019 2:35 pm : link
Please for the love of god. Can we send the brass a collective plea via Eric's connections to the team. Have Pat Hanlon deliver a hand written letter representing how we as fans feel.

Sounds dumb as shit as i re-read what I wrote but that's how worried I am that Mara has no clue what he is doing. Fucking desperate for change. Sickens me to watch this team operate.
How do you guys feel about Gruden as OC
Matt M. : 12/3/2019 2:36 pm : link
NOT HC? Could a combo of Rivera and Gruden work?
as good as seeing
Steve in Greenwich : 12/3/2019 2:42 pm : link
that Garrett is not really in play is; the best take away from Glazer addressing this question is he doesn't make any mention of the Giants keeping Shurmur which speaks volumes, just addresses that he doesn't believe Garrett is on their radar.
Ron Rivera went to a Super Bowl as a head coach
Chris684 : 12/3/2019 2:45 pm : link
He's not exactly chopped liver.

can you explain why you wouldnt want rivera? he has always had solid defenses and he probably comes with norv who has CMC touching the ball all game...he could do the same with barkley. i would LOVE this combo for the simple fact that norv has no interest in being a head coach so we wont lose him and he can truly utilize barkley.
that an rivera is a take no shit kind of a head coach who has gone to a super bowl and always enforces defense
I doubt Rivera
BigBlueCane : 12/3/2019 3:02 pm : link
is a contender, not with Jones and Barkley being the two 'stars' of the team at present. He would have to wow them with his offensive coordinator choice.

They're both under contract now. They'd have to both be fired, I guess?

I had a bit of heads-up on Rivera from a friend/source.

I am sick to my stomach now... ;)

It's not that I don't like him - Rivera is competent and easily an upgrade over Shurmur - but I think there are going to be more interesting candidates. And I lean towards getting a coach who has experience with young QBs.

If we want to go former HCs, I'd prefer Kubiak over Rivera.

Huh? What does that even mean? How do you know what Garrett has done behind the scenes or how much meddling jones has even done lately In Dallas. If anything, there’s evidence to support the belief that jones has backed off lately. Isn’t that a notch on Garret’s belt?

Kubiak had health issues when he was a coach - I don't think he has any desire to be a HC again, he has a nice gig in Minnesota right now.

The Giants can do a lot worse than Rivera. At least he has HC experience unlike the last two losers
Rumor at draft was that Gruden wanted Jones over Haskins
George from PA : 12/3/2019 5:16 pm : link
Would be funny....if he ends up as OC
Glazer has no idea what the Giants are thinking...

This is great news. Really great. Get Harbaugh or Rivera/Turner.
Harbaugh , Rivera or Urban Meyer HC
Giantz_comeback : 12/4/2019 12:47 am : link
Norv Turner , Kubiak or Jay Gruden, OC
Rod Marinelli DC

Keep McGaughey as STs and Tyke as WR coach, overhaul rest of staff. Find the top OL coach on market.

Gruden as OC is a big step up from Shula. Turner or Kubiak would be more preferable though.

Jerry is afraid that the Giants get Garrett and it bights him in the ass. That said I hope he stays in Dallas.
