Their group is stacked, and Canada should be the favorite, but US if they exit their division without having to play the Fins in the QF should be decent.
Kovalchuk and the Kings headed for an ugly divorce. Supposedly Kovalchuk headed back to Russia to play in KHL leaving the Kings with 12M in cap charges (over two years).

For the amount of money the Kings gave him to come back over, he is not the offensive threat he once was.

not even close. I read when he was coming back he'd be a good PP guy. You don't (IMO) pay a PP guy $6+M per year.
I don't know how stuff like this impacts the cap, but I believe his full $6.2M cap hit counts next year (and the remainder of this year counts this year).
19 goals/43 points, for almost $19 million dollars.
RE: Regarding the earlier discussions about abusive coaches Â
Brett and I have talked on here before about the book Losing the Edge, about the 1994 Rangers and the aftermath of the Cup season, and there is a whole lot in there illustrating how much of a maniac Keenan was, particularly towards Mike Gartner and Eddie Olczyk.
it's a fine line between strict (which I take your meaning) and abusive, especially at the young ages.
I was a youth hockey ref in Madison for a number of years. Most of the abuse was coming from the stands (parents, I assume).
The day I had to retrieve the puck from the net and realized the young goalie was bawling his eyes out behind his mask is the day I switched full-time to soccer.
are the WORST. at least in my experience in youth sports as a player, spectator, parent, and now coach.
Not sure if it's the speed, hitting, or something else, but I have been involved with so many sports in all the roles mentioned and in my experience hockey parents are by far the worst.
That said, our goalie cries when she lets in softies. and sometimes she get emotional when she lets in good goals. I try and coach her to be emotionless but every kid is different, so anyway Jay I agree with you it's rough to see kids like that, but sometimes it's the kid and not the environment (parents, coaches, teammates, etc.).
Our kids were so sensitive to it they'd go and huddle around the goalie after any goal to cheer her up. maybe a girl athlete thing - I was definitely not prepared for it and out team is great - very competitive, we win a lot, almost every tournament we're in we make the finals or win.
I had to tell the kids before one of our games stop acting like you're at a funeral when we give up a goal. the other team scores, you go and line up for the face off and move on.
If I were on the other team and I saw how much the goalie reacted from allowing a goal I'd use it to my advantage. Maybe not at 7 or 8 years old, but at 12/13 and older, definitely.

pjcas18 -- what do you make of Caufield's season at UW. I am surprised that the team as a whole hasn't done better.
Caufield has been incredible from the limited action I've seen. Better than a PPG pace as a true freshman. I believe he leads all of NCAA freshman in point.
WI has such a young team. Holloway hasn't even been drafted yet, Turcotte and Caufield are freshman - those are three of the team leaders.
They have so much talent, but I feel like a lot of that talent will leave. Pretty sure Caufield will join the Habs this year in March. Turcotte probably leaves if not this year, then next. Miller is probably gone this spring or next fall.
Great experience for these kids with Granato, but they're so young, it's hard to compete in NCAA against older players.

Yeah. I purposely left it without comment. No idea who he offended there other than his friend Kathryn Tappen. So if she didn't complain, not sure who they're protecting here.

Nonsense. First off, it's spittin chiclets, not like he said anything in his official NBC capacity. Secondly, it was mildly risqué. Obviously a joke between close friends.
like this and I don't about this one, but there seems to be a significant anti-american bias.
Patrick Kane has to be on here. Probably over Bergeron or McDavid since McDavid only played half the decade.
Kane in the decade won three Lord Stanleys, and led the NHL in points for the decade, not to mention a Hart, a Ross, a Conn Smythe and 4 AS appearances.

these guys were playing in the NHL in the 90's. In two weeks it's 2020.

When the puck drops in 2020, these 3 (Zdeno Chara, Patrick Marleau & Joe Thornton) will have played in FOUR decades.
Sounds like people love it for Arizona.
I think Jonathan Quick is nearing the end rapidly, but holy shit he made some highlight reel saves.
Maybe a trade target for someone like the Preds.
Fun OT and getting free booze and food while watching an NHL game from a comfortable spot in the arena is a nice Christmas present.

Canada has two of the top 2020 draft prospects. Lafreniere and Byfield
Can't wait to see him in the NHL.
7 - 1 USA, 4 goals and an assist for Caufield.
Turcotte a good game as well.
