Britt in VA : 12/3/2019 10:12 pm
Ron Rivera HC, Norv Turner OC, Chase Young 2nd overall pick.

Simple yes or no.

With Rivera, but he is extremely mediocre.

He had some terrible seasons in Carolina and almost got canned in I believe his first 3 seasons. Drafted Cam and that turned things around.

We could certainly do worse, but I think we can do better.
Despite Rivera’s current situation
JFIB : 12/4/2019 8:35 am : link
The man has TWICE been voted coach of the year. Sustained success on one team is very rare and a change of situation hold we’ll do the trick. Remember Shurmer was like our fourth choice. It’s not like coaches were beating down the door to coach this team and if the fact that DG is here helps seal the deal on an experienced head coach like RR then I’m in.

Zero interest in recreating Carolina Panthers North.

Are we trading for Cam Newton too?

These sort of comments are beyond simple minded.
That is probably
arniefez : 12/4/2019 8:38 am : link
the best case Mara scenario. I think only Rivera will happen.

This is not at all what happened. He drafted Cam his first year in Carolina. Went 6-10 & 7-9 in his first 2 years. Then he went to Divisional round of the playoffs twice and a SB the next three years.
Yes
jtfuoco : 12/4/2019 10:01 am : link
but only to get barkely and Jones under Norv turner to see what he could do with them.
As far as half measures go, this is likely the best outcome
Mike from Ohio : 12/4/2019 10:08 am : link
But if Gettleman is back, then aside from Chase, this is just more shuffling of chairs.

I have no confidence in Gettleman's ability to build a team, so any offseason plan that involves him coming back is, in my opinion, a poor one.

I touched on this on another thread

Saying no is laughable. Of course I would. It's like some of you guys haven't been watching the Giants (which I get).

That is a competent staff and a high end pick that fills a need. It's as if people are holding out for Bill Belichick.
I think if DG is kept
Kyle in NY : 12/4/2019 10:41 am : link
this is just about the best case scenario we could hope for. To be clear, I want a complete house cleaning. Gettelman has done nothing to show he deserves to stay. But the Giants have shown themselves to be a half measure type of organization. So if they fire Shurmur but keep DG, yeah I guess this would be alright. Blah

This site has lost its collective mind.
Yes I would take that.

We could (and probably will) do worse.
Yes
cjac : 12/4/2019 10:52 am : link
but i'm so desperate at this point

you could have typed anything involving Shurmur and the whole staff being fired on Dec 30 and i would agree with it.

But hes a retread, lol Giant fans are stupid.

Absolutely would do this, Don't forget the Pittsburgh connection too. Those bitching about his Panthers record, his team always palyed hard and tough and had to overcome a lot of mistakes made by Cam -they say Cam giveth and Cam taketh away.
Easy YES

No

He'd be my first choice for DC if he doesn't land a new HC gig. he'd be a fallback position for HC if the better options don't pan out.
Versus what we currently have?
Johnny5 : 12/4/2019 11:11 pm : link
Hell yes.

However, my gut tells me we really want someone less old school, really more than one person with football operations as a top priority. This needs to be fixed from the head down.

That said? I'll root like hell for him if we hire him. I'm not arrogant enough to think I know how well he would work out here. And it HAS to be better than what the hell we are currently watching every Sunday...
Can't give you yes or no
Thegratefulhead : 12/5/2019 12:41 pm : link
Will a root for them and be happy about it. Yes, put almost any coach and chase young and I am gonna roll. Not sold on Rivera. I would prefer to hire a big name guy that demands control of the roster. Too tired of, is it the coach or GM garbage.
