This next five weeks is going to be a rollercoaster ride for the Giants!
Exactly, this potentially adds some fun to the rest of the season. Unfortunately this defense will probably snuff out any chances for Eli to go out in heroic fashion.
RE: When did Eli turn 40. How about we take 2 years off his age and Â
That would be the worst record this team's had, I believe, since the Johnson administration. Something like that might shock John Mara into real action.
I said this since at least the preseason. 0-16 would force Mara to clean house. I'll settle for 2-14
RE: RE: When did Eli turn 40. How about we take 2 years off his age and Â
- He got hurt on the QB sneak on 4th down. I know that I've killed Coughlin in the past for not using the QB sneak on short yardage. Coughlin said he didn't do it because Eli wasn't great at it, and he didn't want guys getting free shots on your QB. Well, this year we've now seen Mahomes and Jones knocked out from the QB sneak. So chalk one up for Coughlin back in the day.
- Jones' late INTs now make more sense, particularly his pick that was towards Shepard when wide open. Throwing on a snowy field without your lower body to fully push will make the ball sail.
And as mentioned above, how the hell is Shurmur leaving his franchise QB in the game with a high ankle sprain in the snow. I'm sure Jones said he'll stay in, but there has to be some eyes from the coaches/trainers that saw that something was off and maybe get him out of the game.
I hope this doesn't end Jones' season, and maybe he comes back for the final Eagle game, but would anyone be stunned if this ends his season?
Let’s assume Jones is done for the year, just for shits and giggles. Eli is going to beat the Eagles twice in the same season? How many times in his career has that actually happened??
The ONLY time the Eli-led Giants consistently beat the Eagles (or swept them) was when Burress was on the team. Plax OWNED the Eagles. They have beat them ONLY 4 times since 2008.
Regardless -- one more win might be enough to screw up their draft position. But that's the kind of luck they've had this year.
We should still be good with 1 win. I'm not sure I expect us to get even 1 win now. At least Jones could move the ball and keep the defense somewhat fresh. Eli can't do that. So I'm expecting the Eagles to put up 40 this week.
As unfair as it sounds, I agree with Eric. Eli's looking at ending with a career record of 116-120 as a starter. The following QBs are in the HOF with a career sub-.500 record as a starter:
Joe Namath: 62-63-4
Sonny Jurgensen: 69-71-7
That's it. Currently, Eli's 116 losses is second most all time behind Testaverde at 122.
To me Eli's candidacy rests solely on those two Super Bowls. I don't think that's going to resonate with a big chunk of voters given the poor image he left the game with these last 7 years.
RE: I'm not sure if I'm reading this right but Vegas moved Â
Makes some sense. Eli is bound to not be sharp. The Eagles tend to make him look silly (tons of sacks, fumbles lost, and ints). And physically we don’t match up with them along the LOS.
Must be tough watching Packer fans take over the stadium last week and now with most likely a farewell tour for Eli it should guarantee the stadium being full for Miami and philly games with Eli's last starts. Could be wrong but just a thought

What? Jones is in a walking boot. That's the only reason.

I think the SBs will carry extra weight because it was the Pats, Brady, and Belichick, especially the historical aspect of stopping the Pats undefeated season. Plus, the Pats aren't the darlings of the media. They have some stench with all of the scandals...
So that will likely be enough of a buffer for Eli as he slips below .500.

If Mara loves Eli as many say, he’s ok with tarnishing his W/L record? Prove your love to Eli, John. Instruct Shurm to start Tanney. If he resists, fire him on the spot.
If some fans partially root for Eli to finish with a sub .500 record just to shovel more dirt in on him and the franchise. Humans have a tendency to be petty, I know, I speak from experience of being petty.

This. If you're going to use your QB to gain positive yards or scramble to gain positive yards he's going to get hurt. Period. I'd be glad never to see a Giants' QB sneak again.

Was rooting for 4 losses to end the year, but I simply can't root against Eli at this point.
Also this speaks to Eli's toughness. Jones couldn't make it beyond 10 straight games played...
You don't think that it may have soemthing to do with the fact that Eli just refused to get hit the last 3 or so years. What it should speak to is Daniel Jones gutted through a high ankle last week and more thank likely would probably go Monday if the season wasn't lost.

Britt i can go to CVS or Walgreens right now and put myself in a walking boot come on you must not be a conspiracy theory kind of guy
Kid is getting hit too many times because of the terrible OL.
Listen - I'm as critical of the OL and position coach as anyone.
But DJ could help himself more with better pre snap diagnosis - he'll get there eventually - but rookies take hits

I personally don’t feel he is a HOF qb but he should be respected for what he achieved.

I can agree with that THe Boss. Good call
The Dolphins game should be intereting how many Giants fans Â

Didn't want to get hit? What? Jones played with high ankle, tough no doubt. Not a knock on him that he can't match Eli Manning's invincibility on a football field.
fifteen years NEVER misses a start due to injury with all those shit o lines and all with the same team. It is astounding. If not benched, dollars to donuts he finishes all sixteen this year too. Jones out after ten games.
I don't want the Giants to win another game, but I hate to see the big guy go out with more losses.
I don't think a handful of games will make a difference in his HOF status. Those voters who had their minds made up will stay that way, a game over or under .500 notwithstanding.
On the other hand, a win or two will probably cost the Giants Chase Young.
there is no player in the history of the NFL with a career like Eli Manning. Joe Flacco maybe in the ballpark given his unreal playoff run, but that was one and he’s obviously an inferior QB to Manning and was on a much better run team.
Absurd highs and just brutally humiliating lows which we thought fully in the rear view mirror, but now will in all likelihood re-emerge Monday at the Linc. The Giants multi-decade abusive Daddy in a fight for the division are aiming to curb stomp the NYG.
With how easy it is to get in the HoF, Eli should make it. But realistically he really does not deserve to be there. Far more about the Giants’ ineptitude than him, but that’s the reality.

Odds are you don't have to worry about the wins portion of this scenario; whether it was Eli, Jones, or Brady in his prime playing QB for this disaster of a team.
If some fans partially root for Eli to finish with a sub .500 record just to shovel more dirt in on him and the franchise. Humans have a tendency to be petty, I know, I speak from experience of being petty.
Eli doesn't deserve any dirt shoveled on him. The franchise on the other hand deserves whatever it gets until real change is made.
that I've become way too used to Eli's iron man streak over the years. Going forward, I have to go back to giving a damn about who the second-string quarterback is.
Exactly, this potentially adds some fun to the rest of the season. Unfortunately this defense will probably snuff out any chances for Eli to go out in heroic fashion.
you have Giants fans on BBI to attack him.
He'll be 39 in less than a month.
Why do people all of a sudden think Eli is some savior? He was horrible the first two weeks.
This year just gets uglier.
They’re not drafting another QB anyway
Will check another source to confirm.

They don't. It's a defense mechanism until he retires with a sub .500 record. THEN, it gets interesting.

Anything that saves this regime is not good. I’ll expect the offense to look better than it has since the TB game.
I seriously doubt we're going to win this game. I'm expecting a 30-10 type score. Another blowout.
I would love for the Giants to win this game with Eli, but there is no way in hell that is happening.
Three score blowout.

Oh and how about this for insult to injury...the Giants/Eagles all time rivalry:
TIED!! (86-86).
Tough son-of-a-bitch.
I commented that two of his ints were due to balls being too high. Having a right ankle issue could have caused that.

It would be great if Barkley has 200 APY and we do not see any Shotgun Inside Handoffs. Would be telling.

No, the worst possible news would be a torn ACL for Jones or Barkley.
I heard Barkley sucks, hesitant and not powerful, so him being hurt should not change much.
Some of you guys are really strange.
Tons of check downs and throws at rb feet
Then you should probably get an early start and turn your television off now.
At the very least, do us all a favor and turn your effing internet off.
