If some fans partially root for Eli to finish with a sub .500 record just to shovel more dirt in on him and the franchise. Humans have a tendency to be petty, I know, I speak from experience of being petty.
Eli doesn't deserve any dirt shoveled on him. The franchise on the other hand deserves whatever it gets until real change is made.
The franchise deserves certain criticism for sure, but not for everything. Fans get lazy so they fail to even to attempt a better understanding of why certain things took place, it's much easier to just say the franchise made another mistake. There was a fan on here the other day criticizing the Giants for not trying flowers at guard.
you should have bantered with the crew from 10 years ago Â
Eli s record is pathetic. His career isn’t over yet, the starting quarterback has a high ankle sprain, next man up.
I m willing to bet Eli doesn’t share any of the sentiments shared here about getting to play, I m betting he s thrilled for the opportunity, know why, because he s a competitor.
It s sports, it s competition, you play to win, these athletes don’t concern themselves with any of the mamby pamby periphery espoused here, thankfully, would be difficult to root for them if they did.

Go Eli, !
Agreed. He doesn't care about those things. He didn't want to keep his streak going. This man is a professional, and he will prepare as such, as he always did.
that Eli gives less than 2 shots about his winning percentage. That's something that only people on this board care about.
On an unrelated note (and I really believe it to be unrelated), Shurmer was cagey in press conference earlier this week. When asked if his backup QB was ready he said something like, "who do you mean, Eli and Alex?" I'm not 100% convinced that Eli is his guy, even as a backup. I am pretty convinced that he loves Tanney to death.
It goes both ways. There was a poster a couple days ago trying to tell me Daniel Jones is a better quarterback than Lamar Jackson. And of course there's been the baseless optimism over the 2018 and 2019 draft classes.
Sometimes it seems like there's no objectivity anywhere. Fortunately there's an infallible metric that tells us the actual truth. And in that metric, the Giants are 3-13, 5-11, and 2-10 the last three years...worst in the entire NFL.
I don't want the Giants to win another game, but I hate to see the big guy go out with more losses.
I don't think a handful of games will make a difference in his HOF status. Those voters who had their minds made up will stay that way, a game over or under .500 notwithstanding.
On the other hand, a win or two will probably cost the Giants Chase Young.

I was literally gchatting with a buddy this morning about how, for the first time, despite all the bad seasons recently, this was the first year and the first time I was going to actively root for losses. I've obviously known it's better for us to lose, but never could bring myself to pull for it. This year was going to be an exception as I desperately want big organizational changes.
So much for that. I can't root against Eli in this spot. I just can't.

Terps, certainly it does go both ways, you're right. I don't mind when fans question anything really, it's how they go about questioning for me. Discussion is good, ideas are good, expressing our views with unstoppable authority isn't part of a healthy discussion in my opinion. I find it hard for me to learn or enjoy conversation when there isn't any give in views.
Was rooting for 4 losses to end the year, but I simply can't root against Eli at this point.
Also this speaks to Eli's toughness. Jones couldn't make it beyond 10 straight games played...
You don't think that it may have soemthing to do with the fact that Eli just refused to get hit the last 3 or so years. What it should speak to is Daniel Jones gutted through a high ankle last week and more thank likely would probably go Monday if the season wasn't lost.
Moronic. First of all Eli did get hit a lot the last 3 years and it was somewhat amazing he did not get hurt. Yes he got rid of the ball in some cases to avoid the rush but playing behind that garbage of a line that would be expected. Listen this is not a debate about Eli anymore as his time has passed but anyone who questions his toughness has either been living in a cave or just plain ignorant. San Francisco NFC Championship game. The guy took a brutal beating and still won. Do you think Daniel Jones would have survived that game or not fumbled the ball several times?
RE: It was clear as day that Jones was injured on that 4th & 1. Â
Yet this moron keeps trotting him out there, which I'm sure as hell bet didn't help matters.
JFC.
i was saying this to my friend after the half. it was obvious the ankle was bothering him and that he wasn't right and shouldn't be in there. probably contributed to those awful interceptions.
But after that: Dolphins at home, Skins, and then home game against an Eagles team that I think is better than 50/50 to have been eliminated by Dallas the week before.
Been thinking all along that 2-11 could plausibly become 5-11.
RE: This actually could be the scenario that gets Eli plus .500 Â

LOL. Yes. The OL and DL are magically going to become even just average now. People don't pay attention.
...moves the needle that much - like Dave in Hoboken just mentioned, the lines remain....maybe Eli doesn't fumble as much but the playbook will be limited without Jones' mobility. Plus Jones was making some nice throws.

My worry here is the law of averages. I don't see the Giants finishing on a 12 game losing streak. They are going to get a win in these next 4 games.
I don't think it will happen on Monday Night, because Philly is a hell-hole.
But would anyone be shocked to see them beat the Dolphins, even in a boring shitfest, because you will have a team from South Florida playing in 40 degrees and rain (which is the way early forecast). I can see the Giants win that game like 14-10 or 17-14 or something.
Washington is playing better, but are they a lock to win at home? There will be about 5 people in the stands for that one.
And if the Eagles are eliminated before the final game, from what I've seen of this Eagles team this year, they are playing like a team that hates their QB. I could see that game like the Redskins in the final game of 2017 when the Giants won to get to 3-13.
I don't see Eli lighting up teams for 350 yards and multiple TDs. But I see Eli not making as many mistakes and playing it safer than Jones did. Playing 3 teams down the stretch who are all (* on the Eagles) playing out the string, and the law of averages tells me the Giants will win at least 1 of those games, and I wouldn't be stunned to see them win 2 of them either.

I'm not as confident. Eli hasn't played a game in 3 months and the OL and DL have gotten worse every week. We shall see.
That means there is zero left to watch with this team. Let's hope 0 and 4 finish to get to 2 pick. Nothing from Eli is exciting at this point
Tons of check downs and throws at rb feet
This Junior guy is rediculous with his Eli hate. I bet he's like 10 yrs old and doesn't remember those Super Bowls.
There are a ton of these "fans" ruining this site, they came over when we got OBJ. They are just awful, unknowledgeable posters/fans. I hate them with a passion, so I just don't post here anymore.
Eli will be playing against teams with a combined record of 16-32.
I know that football is a team sport, but if Jones doesn't play again this year and Eli finishes with a sub .500 career winning percentage, wouldn't that be at least partially of Eli's own doing?
I hope Eli tells Shurmur to shut up on the first play he tries to call in. Eli should run the offense and go with what he sees out there. Allow him to use that big head of his. One of his greatest attributes has always been his intelligence.
Get under center, adjust the alignment, run the ball to setup the play action pass. Eli should play to his strengths.
So sick of watching this coaching staff try to force square pegs into round holes.

An old 40 yrs old qb cold from not getting hit is going to torch the eagles or any NFL defense?
Dude is going to take a pounding after a long layoff. He is old and can't avoid a rush
We might lose out
We may try to run the ball with power. We don't know how much of the O Line issues have been with Jones and the communication with the Center.
So now Jones is the reason the oline sucks. Hahahahah
That is not what I said so don't be a douche.
The fact is, with Jones we run shotgun a ton and the RPO look. With Eli I don't think that will happen and a greater freedom to change plays at the line and the use of play action passing might be in order.
The O Line might benefit as may Barkley. Don't put words in my mouth.
because eli will audible and be able to get them into better plays- what is ridiculous is they didnt give jones much flexibility in doing so... which is why so many runs are met with people at barkleys feet 1 step into the play

But I hope that when Eli gets a dumb play call from the sidelines (which will happen several times) he just ignores it and calls what makes sense at that time.
What does he have to lose at this point?

Geez that would be nuts. Only 5 players have won multiple SB MVPs, can't imagine how Eli could ever be denied a jacket.
Eli plays average and the OL sucks again, we lose and Shurmur looks like a moron because he cant win a football game.
Shurmur's dead man walking either way - any wins and you can kiss any chance at Young goodbye.
