But now I want Eli to have one last run and light them up Monday night to knock them out of playoff contention. I don’t care if it’s akin to cutting off my nose to spite my face.
As bad as I want Young, I would be ok with one last reminder of what Eli gave this team at times. Funny thing about Eli, when you expect him to fold, he has this innate ability to overcome the odds.
Shurmur is still the HC, and Bettcher is still the DC

This.
Posters care about Eli AND the Giants. This thread topic kind of underscores that.

Its funny, but I was thinking ok, Eli and his veteran saavy will somehow cut down on the turn overs and make a feew key plays to rally the team......then I read a few of these takes and realized you are absolutley correct. Eli couldn't overcome Shurmur and Bettcher last year and won't this year. hope he doesn't look too awful.
+1. Same posters who have been wrong about how good this team was gonna be these past several years, as well.
Lose Face for Chase.
Play like Dung for Young.
Last Place for Chase.
Bottom Rung for Young.
The Rat Race for Chase.
Tank with Haste for Chase.
And all that shit.
Hopefully, This makes Eli realizes this is the end and retires a Giant.
GO ELI!
While I agree it has helped in some spots, Jones stays in the pocket an awful lot. He doesn't really use his mobility as much as he should. To be honest, I don't think we will see a big difference with Eli minus the run plays/scrambles.
GO ELI!
Here, Here!
Its incredible that somehow cheering for a Giants win and an Eli win is ....cheering against the Giants? I think by this point the writing is on the wall and PS is a goner. I Think reality is the Giants will most likely lose on MNF AT Philly against the Eagles(probably their 3 biggest pieces of Kryptonite). But whether it was Jones or Eli, I can't root for a lose to the Eagles even to get a better pick.

The problem is that the OP is admitting the he wanted us to lose out to get a better draft pick when Jones was playing, but now that Eli's playing he wants us to win. Which shows that that for him he's really an Eli fan first, Giant fan second.
GO ELI!
Not sure your point, but Clowney is a former All-Pro, multiple time Pro Bowler and a flat out awesome player whose about to get a 100+ million dollar contract. Chase Young is a better football player. Rooting for a QB who won't be here next year to win end of the season games in a 2-10 season is just flat out dumb.
In my opinion, getting the next coach right far outweighs who the team might land in the draft. If the team continues to miss on the higher ups, it doesn't matter if they land Chase Young or the robotic clone of Lawrence Taylor.
Sobering thought

I think what we've learned the past few years
talent > coaching and culture. This team could have Tom Landry as it's coach and wouldnt be good. You need talent to win football games.
You know.. like the good old days :)
Yup
I'll root for them with Eli
I'm a diehard fan, not some immature internet tough guy. I will never understand a so called "fan" being able to root for loses.

I've been a fan since the early 70's and I've never rooted for them to lose or root for a loss to get a better draft pick but this year that changed for me after the Arizona game.
At that point I was convinced Shurmur was a terrible coach and hurting this franchise. One I've loved for decades. I found myself not dwelling all week on losses and looking forward to the next game as I felt we were at a huge disadvantage with him at the helm.
I've resigned myself to looking forward to what's best for our Giants long term and at least for me, if it takes more losses this year to get rid of this coach then I'm ok rooting for that. I feel I'm still rooting for my team just in a different way, as its more about next year than these last meaningless games.
That said, I'm hoping Eli lights it up. I have no doubt it won't be enough though as our coach and this D will get lit up worse no matter how great Eli plays.
However, the Eagles defense isn't all that either. I see us lose a close one.
I'm just not rooting as hard for them to win and find I'm more indifferent to their play. I'm not living and breathing with every snap or loss, and find I don't take the losses as hard since they're one more step to getting rid of Shurmur.
I still want the team to do well and play competitive, it's just I think a loss serves the greater good more than a win will this year.

It's kind of funny but that crowd is also the one that runs around screaming bias.
I understood the sentimental part of seeing #10 get out there again, but odds are overwhelmingly in favor of the Giants getting absolutely wrecked
Quite the troll post...pathetic
A year on from now, looking back and saying we missed out on Chase Young because a quarterback at the end of his illustrious career came back and gave us a night to remember in a meaningless game? It's not worth it in the long run.
