NFT: Insulating crawl space DIY

Has anyone ever done it? Every year I say I’m going to do it and I don’t, is this a job that is easily done or would you really recommend hiring it out?
Might depend on

how agile you are. What's the height you'll be working in?
It's a bit of work to do it right.
Super easy - did it by myself under my entire first house (1000 sq ft)

just by the batts and the support rods and some decent knee pads. Make sure you by the batts that have the waterproof casing
It's been on my mind.

I'd like to hear people's thoughts on this. I know if you want to do it right you need to insulate the perimeter wall, not just change the batts in the floor joists.
How is the water table/humidity

Does your Crawl Space have a cement floor ?? or a vinyl vapor barrier ??

What height will you be working in ?? 24 to 36 inches -- you might be working on your back. A mechanic's creeper would be better than knee pads. Get yourself a breathing mask too.

You need a good vapor barrier on the floor that runs up the foundation wall. Then 2" rigid foil-faced boards (polyisocyanurate) on the interior of the foundation. Then either spray foam along the rim joist or maybe Roxul batts.
Use Rockwool (mineral wool) insted of fiberglass

I just insulated the floor under my closed in deck. It was a 3 season room and I recently had heat added. The floor was the only area not insulated well, it was freezing cold. I found that the fiberglass insulation wasn’t secured and was sagging down. If there are gaps between the insulation and bottom of the floor it’s pretty much useless.

I didn’t want to do this myself. I’m not very handy and don’t have a lot of free time but the price quotes to have someone do it was ridicules. The rockwool insulation is easy to work with and stays firmly in place. I added wire insulation supports anyway just to make sure. There is about 3 ½ feet of clearance. The insulation itself was quick and easy. The biggest pain was taking off the plywood and putting it back.
hire out and have a beer

It's a pita but not difficult with the right products.
+1 on the support rods.

Keep some metal coat hangers and a pair of diagonal cutters handy to make specialty-length/shaped lightweight supports.
