Assuming the Cowboys sack Jason Garrett

jcn56 : 12/6/2019 4:27 pm
what becomes of that team next year?

They just extended Elliot. Prescott is in need of a deal, as is Cooper.

Do the Cowboys figure that all of their woes this season are coaching related? Is there something else holding up a Prescott extension, maybe a tag for next year while they move on to another coaching staff? Is there a philosophical change coming to the way they play, possibly with a new coach coming in and a different offensive or defensive point of view?

With all of the focus on the Giants shitshow and the chance that Garrett might land here, I haven't really seen too much discussion on what's on their horizon.
Dak has looked horrendous

But barring a huge move to trade up into the top 10, they are gonna have to overpay him massively

It's going to be interesting to see how it plays out
They have a top 3-5 roster in the sport.

Whether Dak can win the biggest of games is still a question, but the roster is set for a guy like a Harbaugh, Urban Meyer, or Lincoln Riley to jump in and have immediate success.
I'm not suggesting they're going to take some huge step

back - but a new coach will want some changes. Some will be to parts of the roster nobody cares about, and parts will be to guys who you might think right now are 100% safe.
jerry is easily hateable but a smart guy

i think they franchise dak and bring in a new head coach. not sure it's all garretts fault but he is the definition of mediocre. i'm never thought dak was anything other than a serviceable quarterback who can win some games if everything around him is top shelf. and he's been playing with the best OL in football. jerry should know he's not the guy that carries or elevates a team.
'what becomes of that team next year?'

We have more than enough to discuss and worry about with our own team...unfortunately.

So we don't discuss other teams in our own division?

I can see it - I'm pretty sure from the results the Giants FO doesn't discuss the other teams in the division either.
Don't see them getting away with franchising Dak

He'll do just what Zeke did and not report until a long term deal is signed. Jerry Jones already folded on Zeke and Dak knows it.

Not saying I'd do it but look at what Cousins did. That guy worked it perfectly. Yes, there is risk involved but he maximized his potential with accepting the tag and then hitting FA and getting a fully guaranteed contract.

This season, Dak is pitching it at a 65.5% rate (325 out of 496) good for over 4,100 yards with 24 TDs vs 11 INTs. And a QB rating of 98.2.

He has carved up bad teams. Against good teams, they fall behind and he usually puts up a lot of garbage numbers.

He's a good qb, but don't see him as a difference maker
They have an over rated over paid RB and a qb that wants to be the

Zero chance Riley leaves. OU is a better job than being the Cowboy’s coach. Meyer is possible.
