Okay ... I just watched JFK again and I’ve got Costneritis with conspiracy theories ... I like DJ and believe he’s our QB for the next 15 years. I certainly don’t want him to play if he’s really injured and maybe sitting a couple of weeks can help him in the long term ... but ...
Is this a ploy by PS to hope Eli rallies the team and gets a few wins to save his job ?
Is this a veiled farewell tour for Eli, a chance for fans to say goodbye ?
Is this a demo for Eli to show other teams he can still play ?
I believe there was a conspiracy in ‘63 ... what sayeth you ?
.
If Eli balls out on Monday night and we win, then we may have an issue.
I feel the organization (especially DG) do not want Jones to have a rough game on national television against a team that is desperate for a win. Especially with a defense that can get to the QB in a hurry.
I think Shurmur is as good as gone, just playing out the rest of the season. DG doesn't want the new HC to have reservations on his recently drafted QB.
Plat Eli, what's to lose? (except a higher draft pick next year of course). If he wins, it makes Shurmur look worse IMO. And maybe it brings some fans back to the stadium.
Overall, I think they are protecting Jones' image and DG's ass.
With DJ, I think it is just coincidence. Daniel wasn't feigning the limp in the game. It might not be severe where it would prevent him from playing if the games meant anything. Sure the reps are valuable. But (and here where the semi-conspiracy thoughts creep in), I think the Giants have been very careful on the narrative with DJ. We all were witness to the verbal assault with the selection of DJ. From that moment, they have been careful to cast DJ in the best light. That is a good thing for DJ as it makes no sense to destroy his confidence. But the whitewash of the pick serves no benefit to DJ and only benefits the organization and the staff that selected him.
Throughout the preseason, there were simple orchestrated play calls that would allow DJ to have success. A few of us wanted the play calls to grow progressively more difficult with each preseason game. That was the time for DJ to make mistakes when it didn't matter. But that didn't happen, and come week 3 DJ was foisted into the starting lineup with the reasoning by Pat that DJ "gives us the best chance of winning." Fine. DJ is the future and needed the reps, but he was put into a position where he didn't receive the reps with the 1's all summer. Now, he was tasked with winning games all to save Pat. The immediate success was great for DJ and a confirmation on Pat's decision. But then we have been witness to the consecutive losing with DJ flirting with records that only serve to cast doubt on the decisions by the staff. Having DJ "rehab" saves the organization from any further tarnish on the DJ narrative.
Imagine if Eli wins against the Eagles. That would give beat writers lots of click bait.

He really did get injured last week - you could see it in his throws and his play.
And for all the turnover records he was potentially on pace to break, I find it funny how you ignore all the positive things he did over the course of his 10 starts. He was breaking records there too.
It's appropriate that 'suds' in your handle because if you believe that, you've had a couple suds.
I saw that docudrama too ... they didn’t say the rookie was drunk, but he replaced another guy who was ... I think ballistics angles proved this idea wrong ... like Costner says ...”back and to the left, back and to the left”

Your reading comprehension is lacking. I acknowledged the injury. It is legitimate. The injury gives cover to the organization. It isn't just about the fumbles and interceptions. He has lost over 260 yards with his ability to not avoid a sack. BBI has been preaching that a mobile QB can cover up the ills of a poor OL. Yet, now that we have a QB who is capable, somehow he is unable to avoid the rush.
Look, there is a lot to like about DJ. I want him to be successful. But he needs to clean up his game. With the assumption that a new staff is brought in for next season, they should not be forced to stick with him while he is on scholarship. If they choose to work with him, the scholarship should be short. If we continue our losing ways and are picking at the top in 2021, then the organization needs to secure Sunshine and trade DJ.

Each of these conspiracy theories would have had to have been cleared all the way to the top. Ask: are the people who brought us Geno Smith really capable of thinking something like this through?
that said, at this point jones is a guy who fumbles a lot, and who can't make it through a full season. hopefully he's a lot better next year.
if the giants are bringing in a new coaching staff, i wouldn't mind them trading jones and drafting one of the QBs coming out this year
yeah that's horse shit.

Just stop.
