A Charlie Brown Christmas (Awesome soundtrack!)
A Christmas Carol:
Alastair Sims Sims and George C Scott versions (Tough to chose between them! But probably my fav overall Christmas Tale)
Elf
A Christmas Story
The Grinch (Animated)
Scrooged
It's a Wonderful Life
Trading Places
Surviving Christmas
Also caught a Christmas Carol with Patrick Stewart which had a pretty amazing cast. Liked it a lot, put me in the holiday spirit.
And Bruce Willis claims Diehard is not a Christmas movie FWIW. he has his own classification.
I've actually never gotten all the way through that movie. And I'm a fan of Chevy Chase.
:dunno:
Except that is a Thanksgiving movie

Bruce Willis is a pussy. John McClane is the man.
Home Alone
Agreed
"Dear George, remember no man is a failure who has friends. Thanks for the wings, Love Clarence."
Never fails to choke me up.

National Lampoons Christmas vacation on that list?

How long have you been dead inside? That movie is all kinds of awesome.
How about Scrooged?
I love the George C Scott Christmas Carol
The Night Before
Love Actually
The Holiday
Last Christmas (new in theaters)
It's not. It's a movie set during Christmas that has nothing at all to do with Christmas. Thus, not a Christmas movie. Gremlins, same thing.
Alastair Sim
Patrick Stewart
George C. Scott
and although I'm not really a big Jim Carrey fan, his animated version was great.
More of a Thanksgiving movie but I probably would consider it a "holiday movie"
The latest Grinch remake was actually pretty good - is watch that again if my daughter wants to. Nightmare before Christmas is also a visual masterpiece.

Why is Home Alone a Christmas movie and not Die Hard. Both can be anytime of year but take place during Christmas time. Boom.
Boom.
There’s a bunch of action movies that take place on a holiday. They are action movies.

Charlie Brown, just the soundtrack'
If you're a reader, I highly recommend Jean Shepherds books of short stories.
"In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash" and "Wanda Hickey's Night of Golden Memories"
Boom.

Die Hard is about a guy split from his family who is invited to attend a Christmas party and ends up saving her and reuniting his family.
My personal fave is the Albert Finney version of Scrooge
England during that period
Modern: office Christmas party
1951 Alstair Sim version
2009 Jim Carry animated version
Four Christmases - Reese and Vince Vaughn
Christmas with the Kranks
The Santa Clause (first one)
Surviving Christmas - Christina Applegate, Ben Affleck, James Gandolfini, Catherine O'hara

Planes Trains and Automobiles to this list.
Except that is a Thanksgiving movie
Not only is it “a” Thanksgiving movie, it’s THE Thanksgiving Movie.
That's not a movie though.
The Santa Clause.
Elf.
Night Before
Home Alone
I seem to watch these every year.

Boom.

Ok, so any movie that mentions a Christmas party is a Christmas movie I guess.
I’m not buying.
I haven't seen anyone mention "Just Friends". Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris are great in that film

Die Hard doesn’t simply just “mention” a Christmas Party. The entire story and setting is a Christmas Party on Christmas Eve. The entire impetus for the story is the Christmas spirit inspiring the wife to invite him to the party and a series of events or “Christmas miracles” unfolds that reunites them. Hence the conclusion of the film which plays to “Let it Snow” and shows the two holding each other while the fire is slowly dying (building burning) and the “snow” falls (White small paper that resembles the flakes) and the “storm” (the attack) has ended and they are still “goodbying”
“When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm
But if you really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm
And the fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let it snow, let it snow, and snow”
just not Christmas for me.
