Most pundits have Burrow going #1 and definitely the top qb in the draft. I have watched several of his games this year and numerous scouting reports. All praise his mental makeup and accuracy on intermediate throws. All say his arm strength is average and doesn’t have elite or even above average athleticism (yes I saw he caught his own pass and ran for a 1st down today).
Sound familiar? I wonder would Jones would have done in college with if he had the talent at LSU?
Something to think about as we plummet this year and need massive draft and free agency needs.
If we somehow secure the #1 pick this year, then I hope DG trades down for additional picks but they must include a #1 in 2021. Having the extra #1 might be necessary if we continue our losing ways to secure Sunshine.
Correct. He looks more athletic than Jones to me, gets to top speed quicker.
I concur. Burrow is a helluva athlete. Hopefully he goes 1 to Cincy because I only want to face him once every 4 years.
seriously, he is going #1
;>)
Is ridiculous
I want to know how you know that. Jones is playing with ridiculous talent and an OC that is NFL-caliber. Burrow could be better, no doubt, but people are really shitting on Jones for no reason.
I think Burrow is the better prospect and will be the better pro, but comparing his college play to Jones’ NFL play is pointless. And if we compare them both as college players then we go right back to what Jones had at Duke vs what’s likely the best roster in the country at LSU.

Is and will be far better than what Jones will be

Burrow has much better pocket fundamentals than Jones.
Line and average nfl talent at WR.

I am the first person to say we still have to wait and see on Jones; by no means am I declaring him an NFL star. But I can't believe people shit on him the way they do when he has thrown 18 TDs (and run for two more) in 10 games. Yes, he has made mistakes, but what NFL rookie QB hasn't? To expect perfection from him is absurd. And if and when he cleans up the fumble issue (and maybe gets some decent play calling), the guy could be awesome for us.
But no, let's pick on him for every little thing he does wrong. And anoint Burrow as the next Peyton Manning or Tom Brady because he is embarrassing college football right now.

With Jones. If we suck next year, perhaps we’re in position to get Trevor Lawrence the following spring, although we’d likely need to suffer through another 2-14 year. Lawrence is likely #1 overall in 2021.

I don’t think #s 2 and 3 overall will get you Lawrence.

Who knows who will be in the #1 slot in 2021. That team may not need a QB. If we are in the #2/#3 slot, then having multiple #1 picks to leverage in a move up might secure the right to draft Sunshine. Maybe DJ proves everyone wrong and locks up the gig. But if we continue our losing ways and DJ hasn't cleaned up his game, then sorry Danny.
There is no way his 5th year option will be picked up without a clear indication of him being our franchise player. The deadline to elect the 5th year option is the end of the 3rd year. Winston and Mariota both played on their 5th year option for $24M. In 3 years, the 5th year option will likely be in the $26M+ stratosphere. A franchise can't extend a scholarship for $25M+/yr just to determine if that player is their guy. The answer has to be know by the end of year 3.

i'm with you. if we had the #2 and #3 in 2021 i would trade them in a second for TL. what I'm saying is that some time might give up more than that (multiple 1s and 2s and/or players). anyway, chances are slim we'll be in position to get him.
Knowing the “talent” the giants have look what Jones has done. Lol
I feel pretty good on value. The giants need to address the talent around Jones.
Let the haters hate.
Is ridiculous
In the market or not, IMO the best argument for keeping Shurmur in 2020 is that might land the Giants Trevor Lawrence in 2021.
I would be very pleasantly surprised, but also shocked, if Jones looks so good in 2020 that you'd pass on Lawrence in 2021.
Not only will Lawrence be the best QB prospect since Luck.... He might be a better prospect than Luck.
He will likely be undefeated in college going into 2020...
Think about that!
I like Jones, but if we have the chance to improve at the position we should.
If we end up with the top pick, I say pick Burrow.

said Burrow doesnt have above average athleticism is an imbecile
On that play where he scrambled away and then completed a pass for a 71 yard gain reminded me of Aaron Rogers.
I can't believe anyone thinks Jones is as good.

I have faith in the Red Rifle knowing that he has no future in Cinci. He is auditioning these final games.
I trust that our defense is sufficiently awful to secure our losing ways.

Lawrence is better than Luck. I think he would have been the #1 pick in the 2018 draft out of high school.
He’s the best QB prospect since Elway.
And Georgia's defense being the wrong match-up (it was built to stop Bama's rushing attack) makes it even more absurd.

this...draft him and trade down for multiple picks
