Consider: Beckham has been on the injury report every week of the season. Since Week 8, he was listed with a groin injury and participating mostly on a limited basis. At times, he has been full. From Week 1 to Week 6, he was listed with a hip injury. |
It is always someone else who is at fault. Never the guy who doesn't bother to show up and train with his teammates.
Can't blame Eli anymore.

People like to shit on Eli, but he has made the careers of other receivers that never amounted to anything with their new teams.
Odell Beckham’s talent “wasted” in “dysfunctional” Browns’ offense - ( New Window )

Besides Odell, what Giants receiver has left the Giants after playing well in a position to do well?
Nicks - hurt
Mannignham - hurt
Plaxico - prison
If you think Eli made Odell and ignore that Odell kept Eli afloat your blinded by sentimentality

That is it right there. He gets traded to a new team and knows he needs to get on the same page with the new QB.
So, does Odell bother to show up for the OTA's? Nope...
Then, we are starting the season and we hear announcers on TV saying things like it looks like Baker Mayfield and Odell are not in sync.
Landry is having a good year.

Yes, Everyone was Manning'd. Enough with the excuses. Players left without success. Might as well include OBJ in the "hurt" column. Was Shockey also hurt?
Shockey averaged like 150 yards less a year post Giants. He never really put up big numbers while he was here.

If they couldn't play as you contend, then how come Nicks continued to be signed? Heck, we even signed him again.

Because they physically couldn’t play football anymore, and nobody blamed that on Eli.

You’re going to sit here and say that 2014 and 2015 Nicks was the same player physically as 2011 Nicks?
I mean by your logic how come he only caught 7 passes when he came back here if it was about Eli and not the injuries?
Fixed

Colts signed him. Titans signed him. Giants signed him again. And Saints signed him. I presume before each signing the team conducted a workout and physical. If he passed the physical, then the player is no longer "hurt". Keep trying, AJ.
What's Odell's excuse?

You’re either trolling or intentionally being dumb. He never played for the Saints or Titans, wonder why. He came back and played with Eli two years after he left and did nothing.
I don’t think you understand the concept that injuries have a cumulative effect on players bodies. Nicks wasn’t physically the same player his last year in his first stint in NY as he was in 2011. Nicks lack of success after leaving had nothing to do with Eli Manning.
We can say Eli had a great career without making up narratives.
What's Odell's excuse?
But again. Name one besides Odell if you’re going to make that statement.
Who was the receiver besides Odell that was successful here, left healthy, and didn’t have success elsewhere?

they're both right. maybe everyone should just stop hating people and filtering all new info thru a lens of confirmation bias.
Bingo!!!! And more, the helmet catch? And subsequent TD to Plax??
Very unfortunate situation for him.
If you don’t realize that stop posting on threads like this.
This article says he is hurt- we have posters making excuses for Barkley but here being hurt isn’t relevant.
Eli has a tragic 2013- and Beckham shows up and he puts up the best stats of his career- and a year after leaving, is essentially out of the league- but somehow this thread would argue that Eli made Odell.
I do think Eli back will help Barkley for reasons discussed in other threads
I won't bother waiting for your response as we all know the answer is a unanimous yes.

They took a physical and passed because they were no longer injured but they were no longer physical able to play the game at a high level. A physical has nothing to do with your speed, agility or ability to stay healthy.
I’m not so sure what’s so hard to grasp here. The wrs that we’re good here and left didn’t succeed because their injuries they accumulated throughout their career prohibited them from playing football at a high level. It had nothing to do with not having Eli as their QB. Nicks had Luck in the year he threw for 4700 yards, 40 touchdowns and 16 interceptions and he had 405 yards receiving.
Manningham didn’t succeed because he tore his acl again in San Fran.
Smith didn’t succeed in Philly because his knee injury complete voided out his skill set.
Cruz did nothing because he had suffered literally the worst injury you could have.

You fail to mention that the giants also somewhat shifted their offensive philosophy to a shorter pass game which certainly impacts numbers.
To me Odell is an amazing receiver who tends to put his production ahead of the team. I don't think he would be happy if the browns were winning with lack of touches. He needs his team to win and have a certain number of touches. A lot of times great offensive threats have to play decoy for the better of the offense and I don't think he is ok with that.
I don't know if that was the reason, but I noticed many CLE games same thing - OBJ on the sideline in big drives, in the RZ, at the goaline often. I don't get how that marries with 'GOAT' - much more if we account for all the other shenanigans outside of hydration / injury
Add in ALL the other shenanigans, I'm not rooting against him but not losing sleep over him gone. It was time, maybe the first guy we've correctly cut bait on early vs late tbf. And that's not saying he WON'T be great, but it wasn't happening here and his time at NYG was done
Funny how this is coming out. No one ever said this while it was happening. All we heard was Eli sucks and the giants need to move on despite data showing the giants offense, save for 2013 and 2017 never truly prevented the giants from winning. Even 2016, that team won.
The defense was always the problem here with Eli under center. Now the offense and defense both suck. Can’t blame Eli anymore.
Eli was always criminally under rated here for his ability to line up his offense and get them in position to succeed. For too often the skill players here didn’t share the same brain with Eli like Marvin Harrison did with Peyton or edlelman does with Brady. Too many inconsistent moments. The best guy was OBJ and he’s now learning the hard way Eli was his best qb.
Eli was the glue in this nyg offense. He was the constant.
What's Odell's excuse?
Agreed not here to bash anyone but OBJ is his own worse
enemy . The Eli and DG bashing has no merit .

Plax played with Big Ben and then put up his best numbers with Eli.
Manningham was healthy enough to sign a lucrative deal with SF. What about Reuben Randle? He couldn’t even make another roster after NY.

Manningham failed in SF because he tore his acl again.
Was Reuben Randle good here?
Beckham a bit of a different story. he was a freak of nature his first 3 years and the league struggled to adjust to it.
