NFT: Fixing the disaster called the New York Knicks

Earl the goat : 12/8/2019 8:45 am
1. Hire Masai Ujuri as GM and head of all basketball operations
Dolan gives up all decision making
Fire Mills. I don’t think Perry deserves the same fate as he was stuck with Mills

2. Hire Rick Pitino to be coach I believe this would be a fantastic choice but I do have faith in Ujuri decision making for a new coach and staff

3. Play the young kids as much as possible to see what you can develop and continue to tank even though tanking doesn’t give you the top pick
There’s enough top 5 talent coming out that they would get a very good player
4. Trade Morris and anyone else on one year contracts for whatever you can get
5. Put Randle to the bench. He is killing the offensive flow of the game

I see Robinson Knox and RJ as future core players on this team and they need to get 30 plus minutes a game

Should be firing Steve Mills. The guy is a loser.
You lost me at

Pitino.
It’s simple

Until the Knicks have a real GM in place- nothing will change. I mean an experienced successful GM- Ujiri, Presti, Morey, Jerry West. Until that happens nothing else matters.

Mills, Perry and the entire front office needs to be cleared out.
Perry deserves nothing

There's no reason at all to think he's some great executive in the making if he just didn't have Mills around him. Nope. Both of them should go. As far as coach, I would not hire Rick Pitino and I have no idea why you would want to.

Knicks need to invest heavy into data analytics. They need an executive who understands it, embraces it and has experience with it. If you want to argue it's merits I won't stop you but in my opinion there's enough evidence now to suggest it has it's place basketball and for more than just on court play. The Knicks need an entire modernization of their methods and this would be the first step.

Only after all that is done do they then need to create a comprehensive plan. One they stick to or make small changes to if need be. For far too long the Knicks have not seemed they had one. An identity of what they want to be and the type of players they want will come from this as will an idea about what kind of coach fits into this plan and that's when you make that hire.
The Knicks don't need to decide to tank
GeofromNJ : 12/9/2019 12:10 am : link
They will automatically tank whether they play the young kids, the vets, or a combination of the two.
I've been a Knicks' fan since they were born in 1946.

Let's see now, they've played 73 seasons and won two
championships....the last one was a mere 45 or so years ago.
I am frustrated and worse than that, running out of years.
Plus this team is awful, owned and managed by idiots, and there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
At this point, for me anyway, I'd be personally satisfied if they just take the freakin' franchise and fold it!!!

Hilarious that you guys are ready to call a 20 year kevin knox a bust. He is 20! He has been in an awful situation. Is he going to be Paul George no, but could he eventually have Joe Johnson type of upside, yes. You guys are crazy, just like throwing the towel in on Frank. Is Barrett next?

The team has been awful and the coaching has been awful. Rhere is no vet PG and no free agents are signing here anytime soon. Here is what they should do, trade expirings for Paul and a get a first rounder with it.

Who cares about his salary the next 3 years no one is signing here next year and Giannis isn’t coming here in 2021.

What’s the benefit? Paul albeit at the end of his career can at least run a respectable offense and get guys good looks. He can be a leader of all of this young talent that they have have. Plus you get another pick and you get rid of Randle, ellington and portis. This is the biggest plus of all. Now you don’t have to watch Julius Randle ruin the team on both ends of the floor. Additionally with Paul locked up for 3 years it prevents the Knicks from making any other bad long term signings. Let all of these guys with options for year 2 go in the offseason and try to trade for another bad contract and pick up another 1st rounder.

Draft a PG in 2019 draft and let him groom under Paul for a year or 2. Then you have 2 first rounders in 2021
#3-4 basically describe Perry's (and Mills'?) plan
giants#1 : 12/9/2019 12:18 pm : link
or at least what I assume their plan was after missing out on KD. Sign vets to short deals, move those deals for assets at the deadline. Grow/develop the youth.

Unfortunately Fizdale has failed to develop the youth and has arguably hurt the value of some of the vets too.

That article doesn't really say anything new.

This, on the other hand, may be the solution!

Who think the Knicks should hire Chris Beard from Texas Tech

He just beat #1 Louisville ... the guy can coach
