Second week in a row I unsuccessfully stacked a fantasy defense against him ... tearing up the Texans secondary ... which is finally healthy and playing well. Surprising.
admitted he wanted Jones, and Lock fell all the way to the second round. He had some accuracy concerns in college, and came from a spread offense except for his last year IIRC. I would have been fine with him at #17.
Jones looked fantastic his first few games and then some weak points and experience tests came. I expect much the same with Lock. He’s got some gunslinger tendencies to lose his mechanics and throw balls into underneath coverage
Lock has the physical tools interested to see how defenses try and challenge him more.

Yup, he’s got KC next week. Another interesting test.

Denver also traded with Pittsburgh as soon as we took Jones, and passed on Lock until the second round.
I don't want to re-litigate this. There has always been this defensive posture around here to justify the pick. Even Gettleman got defensive post-draft to justify his decision.
Personally, I think Denver wanted Hockenson. And once he was gone, they got out of the #10 spot.

Phil Simms was clear that Denver would have taken Jones.
Gettleman told me he “knows for a fact” there were two teams that wanted Jones between six and 17. I could not find them, though I certainly can’t say with certainty that two do not exist....
But let’s go through the exercise and see about the two teams and Jones, starting with Jacksonville at seven. No; just signed Nick Foles. Detroit; highly unlikely with Matthew Stafford in-house. Buffalo; no, Josh Allen (the Wyoming QB) just drafted last year. Denver at 10: I was there, and Broncos had Drew Lock number one on their QB board.
Second, wasn’t Peter King in Denver’s war room for the draft, and he saw their board and they didn’t have Jones in the first round?
He was. And at the time I cited King. But because King didn't support the Gettleman narrative - that every team in the NFL wanted Jones - the report was shot down as worthless...
Now I have posters linking other threads citing the old "friend of a friend of a friend" connection as a source...
But Daniel Jones was the Messiah after the 2 games and now he's a liability according to the press. It takes film of a QB to see why he's playing well and teams will adjust. It's just a bump, we'll see a lot more over the next 2-3 years so keep your pants on.
Peter King? Really? Guy is a stooge....teams, especially teams he has Â
connections to like the broncos, use him as a mouth piece to get their narrative out to the public in return I'm sure are what are valuable nuggets occasionally. He has nothing to lose by saying Drew Lock was number 1 on the draft board, it's completely unverifiable and the Broncos now are trying to make it sound like he was their guy all along.
That bullshit doesn't track at all. So you need a quarterback and the number 1 QB on your board is available at 10 but you don't draft him? Bullshit.

The challenge, long term, will be above the shoulders.
Vic Fangio was my hope as well, not gonna happen now, shucks

Here, although it's admittedly hearsay.

He looks more like the lead singer of Blink 182.

So Peter King, who was in the Denver draft room, would know less than Simms...??

Oh, you mean like Gettleman spreading the narrative through Peter King that he “knows for a fact” that two teams wanted Jones between #6 and #17?
Guess what, it’s ok to like Jones without running down other QBs or spreading bullshit that he was the consensus #1 QB in the draft.
2 yards rushing on 6 attempts
1 fumble
194 yards passing
2 td passing
