is not knowing by the end of the 3rd year when the deadline to elect the 5th year option is. Having questions going into the 3rd year is not ideal, but it isn't worst case.
darnold is insanely shaky. he should have thrown an EASY INT but miami dropped it and jets ended up kicking a FG before miami kicked the FG to take lead.
For a guy in his 2nd year, in a dysfunctional organization, with zero talent around him, with 2 different offenses in 2 years and having missed time both seasons.
Darnold is like a week older then Daniel Jones as well despite being drafted a year earlier.
I’m not sure what people expect out of these guys.

Not to mention took an absolutely brutal sack that should of lost them the game.

Stop being reasonable, it doesn’t play well here, with some.

I guess some trying to make it look bc giants are doing bad..in other words, making a bright spot for the giants
darnold and have improved the team with some high draft picks, including the giants third rounder, and darnold sucks in his third year and leads them to three wins, they are in the running to draft lawrence in 2021.
darnold may flop in his third year but it's not the end of the world.

They arguably have less offensive talent than the Giants.
Solid, serviceable guy, but kind of unspectacular. Makes mistakes. Misses receivers. Turns the ball over. Inconsistent. Kind of reminds me of Carson Wentz.
The Jets fans are so starved for a franchise QB, that they overlook some of his shortcomings.
Eli wasn't a "Franchise QB" and on his way to being a bust 3/4 of the way through his 4th year and a month later was Super Bowl MVP. Way too soon to judge Darnold. He's on a bad team with a bad coach too.

Also agree, especially since he had mono for the beginning part of the season. Let's revisit this at the end of next year.
the ideal was to have a QB sit a couple of years, then play. Now, it’s throw them to the wolves. And they’re expected to not just survive but become great immediately.
It’s the hardest position in sports. The decision making is complex and happens in 2-4 seconds, you’re dependent on OL, WRs, and need TE and RB help. You change systems and are learning the complex O, blocking schemes, check downs, etc. and trying to diagnose blitzes, disguised coverages, against different fronts against incredible athletes while 270 lb monsters fast as horses try to decapitate you. You do it under a microscope as millions watch. You take blame if it’s your fault or not because fans see the int not that the WR was supposed to cut in not sit down.
I don’t know if Darnold or Jones will be great, but I know they need some time to find out. I

If Lamar Jackson wins the MVP, it will be two years in a row that the award is won by a second year QB in his first full year as a starter. Other young QBs have come in recently and played extremely well from the outset: Watson, Prescott, Wentz, Goff, and even Mariota and Trubisky were all leading their team into the playoffs within their first 3 seasons or earlier. We can likely add Josh Allen to that group this year, and of course there's Jackson and Mahomes.
That's 9 guys on 9 different teams that very recently quarterbacked their team to the playoffs within 3 years.
The league has changed. The QB position has changed, and the way the college game informs the NFL has changed. That we used to think about the position no longer applies.

Like half your examples are already not "franchise" QBs despite their initial success.

Darold will likely be the Jets QB for a looooong time.
It's his second year and mono forced him to miss a number of games. He'll be better next year.
Connor covers the Jets for The Athletic.
This is why the Giants need to make a decision on both management and coaching by the end of next year.

Not a touchy subject for me. You think it's a "telling tweet" and I'm not sure why.

Because someone who intimately covers the Jets is starting to question if the team's quarterback is good enough to be "the guy."
The Jets fans are so starved for a franchise QB, that they overlook some of his shortcomings.
I think his ceiling is Carson Palmer.
