or a little salty to say it better, but i definitely don't understand it when it's aimed at former coaches who didn't screw the team and were let go anyway.
like people really root against perry fewell and spags? why?
But you also can’t forget that he had historically bad defenses as well. If I’m not mistaken, he owns two of the three worst statistical defenses (yards and points) in NFL history both here, and with the Saints.

don't get the "hate" for former coaches...but I will say I agree it hurts to watch competent teams. December football can be so fun when your team is in the mix. Sub .500 ball would have gotten us some meaningful cold weather games.
KC's success has way more to do with their D than their O. KC's offense has looked like shit most of the year. They cannot run the ball at all. Mahomes is not the same as last year. KC's D has held them in most games while the O figures shit out. I think Spags has done a masterful job this year with that squad. If you look at overall stats you can point out that they aren't that good but if you watch them on a game to game basis you know exactly what I am talking about.

Seriously why would you hate on Fewell? He had a clean exit from NYG.

I do not like Spags. I think he is overated. Unless he has an absolutely dominant DL, he has mediocre to bad defenses. Yes, he was responsible for 2 of the 3 worst defenses of all time.
might be in some trouble. They still have couple of tough games left. The offense is relying on lots of gimmicky runs and special plays. They’re going to need the run game and defense badly to go on deep playoff run.
because I hate the Patriots as much as the NFC East team, but that was some of the worst officiating I have seen all year, and that's a low bar.
Why not call the Harry play a TD so it gets overturned on review if he stepped out. Instead the ref calls him out of bounds and the Pats had no challenges. He was not OOB.
Why blow the whistle on the fumble return. the MO all year has been not to whistle plays dead, that way on replay they can be sure when plays get challenged.
I won't even comment on the PI's.
the other way, Hightower hit Mahomes about 3 yards out of bounds and no flag.

They are in trouble. Weaker OL, not threat at TE, weaker K, and Brady is addicted to Edelman, and just doesn't trust the rest of his receivers.
Has always been able to put together a good defense if he has good players at certain spots — specifically pass rushers. KC has good pass rushers so I’m not surprised to see him doing well.

Amen , that was some all time bad reffing today in that game. Also , the Pats first challenge very clearly showed the refs marked the ball at least 1 yard too far ,yet they uphold the original ball spot. If they had that challenge then they could have reviewed Harrys td. Should have gone to ot . I thought Pats defender made contact while Maholmes was barely in bounds , close though

Lmao we do this song and dance every year.
"Man they dont LOOK like the Pats of old"
Meanwhile they're just quietly 10-3 lol
"Oh they have problem x, y, and z"
Every year is the year the dynasty ends, and every year they're in the super bowl anyway lol hard to get fooled by the not so shocking plot twist when you've seen the movie 10x already...
the other way, Hightower hit Mahomes about 3 yards out of bounds and no flag.

Hightower did not hit Mahomes out of bounds despite what Romo initially said and then he had to backtrack. Mahomes was in bounds by a step when he was pushed. Romo when he saw the replay said he should have been allowed to just run OB.
Those of you old enough should remember when Perry Williams was flagged for shoving Joe Montana OB (1981 or 1984 playoff game?) and then later in the game Montana scrambled toward the sideline and Williams stopped before hitting him to avoid another PF. Montana stopped just before the sideline when Williams slowed down then proceeded to turn up field for about a 15 or 20 yard gain.
So if you are inbounds you should be given no quarter.

LOL. Slags has taken so much shit on this board it’s insane. Fewell isn’t brought up with vitriol anywhere close to the Spags bashers.
Ridiculous 'deadball whistle' on a clear fumble calls back a Pats defensive TD and they stole another 4 points when they rule Harry out at the four yard line when he clearly stayed in bounds and they settle for the FG.
The officiating just gets worse week by week and year to year. It's a fucking joke at this point.

Yup , just a total shitshow. Pats haters rejoice if you wish , but this could easily be our beloved Gmen robbed of a win or ot chance if and when we are good. Boger even miscalled a hands to face early in the 3rd on KC 5yard penalty instead of the correct 10 yarder, KC gets a fg on the drive and may well have been the differance. The level of incompetance among this crew today was staggering , and mostly pertaining to non flag plays. As a hardcore nfl fan this was almost like Tim Doughnahey as a nfl ref.Cheap and or questionable flags come and go often in the nfl, I get that, but to screw up that many reviews and the basics of nfl reffing as Boger and crew did today is downright scary it could happen to us
I think yesterday's win levels Spags's record vs. NE as DC at 2-2. Â
Regular season losses in 2007 and 2015. The prior win, of course, was the big one. His teams in St.Louis and New Orleans did not face the Patriots.
For what it's worth (exactly nothing), Perry Fewell beat New England twice in one season, including the Super Bowl. The regular season win was a road game.
Small samples lead to weird conclusions.

agree completely. i hate the Pats but this kind of officiating is really discouraging. i'm getting less and less enjoyment from watching games in which i have no rooting interest. it's mind boggling how bad they are. yet i never seem to have the same feeling when watching NCAAF.

PJ - easier said than done.......I hear this all the time, just let the play go.
The refs are there to manage the game from their perspective, and need to blow plays dead as they see it.
The ref clearly missed it, but they are trying to get plays right, and also end plays with a whistle so players don't get hurt.

Agree it's not simple, it just seems like more often that not, especially with possible fumbles in most games they are letting plays go without a whistle to preserve the accurate results in case of a challenge or review.
The guy put together one of the greatest defensive gameplans in the Superbowl against a far superior team. the defense won that game. He have some great players but it wasn't like we had 11 all pros. Not to mention, he just seems like a god guy overall.
Maybe he is not a good Head Coach, I dont know if we have enough info on that but he is a very good coordinator when he has the tools to work with. many teams now employ a version of the nascar package which he utilized his talent very effectively.
good talent, and he'll put together a good defense. I'm sure that he'd be getting lit up if he was our D-coordinator in 2019 because of how bad the roster is, but he was never the problem.
He blitzes enough to be sure that Brady will get hit repeatedly. I have always found it bizarre that DCs think they can beat Brady with coverage. You beat him with intimidation. Spags comes after him early often and all game long.

Or these young WR to beat single coverage.

It is crazy when coaches come to the Giants, they forget how to coach. Then, they go to another team, and look pretty good.
Didn’t the Saints have “two” head coaches that season?

Easy guy to root for and loved seeing that.
Proven by Spags here over two stints and in KC, and now proven by Bettcher in AZ and here.
Yet some people are convinced the defensive ineptitude is all on Bettcher and don't consider the shit defensive roster he has to deal with.
