#Giants QB Daniel Jones, out tonight vs the #Eagles with a high-ankle sprain, is expected to miss from 2-4 weeks, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo
, who is covering the game for us tonight. That means expect Eli Manning to get at least 1 home start before 2019 ends, maybe more.
How does a qb make the hall of fame with more losses than wins?
If it is based solely on winning two super bowls then that seems way to narrow. Besides, it’s not like he threw a lot of tds in those super bowls....I think most people know we won Primarily because of our defense with a little luck and with some good passes by Eli too.
up Chase Young selection than I am giving a false narrative that the struggles were related to a rookie QB and that Manning showed he still has it.
The good thing is this, without Jones's mobility we would have been blown lucky to not get shut out in many weeks. Eli is not changing anything here. Our defense is not changing anything here. if anything, we will be the elixir to what ails the Eagles.
Of us winning 3 of the last 4 and fucking out our chance at Chase Young.
While possible, let's not forget he was sat down for a reason.
And that reason given by Pat was that Daniel gives us the best chance of winning. Personally, I'm loving the 8 game losing streak. Aren't you entertained?
would say this will give Eli his home game against a team they "should" beat with a chance to once again even his W-L record.
Yep and it gives Eli the opportunity to end his career playing and not watching from the bench. And I still wonder if we were in the playoff hunt if DJ wouldn't be starting. Boot off, anxious to play, said as much that he could play, has played with similiar injury before in college hmmmmmmm.Best way to end the season for everyone I guess.
which is pretty much whoever plays the Giants goes on a little run afterwards. The Cowboys opened the door from them and I think the Eagles kick it down, starting with beating the Giants tonight. I'd be stunned if the Eagles don't beat the Giants by something like 28-10 and Wentz looks good and all the usual shit in Philly will go on.
But I do think the Giants will beat the Dolphins next week and bring Eli's record back to .500 and Eli gets a nice little farewell moment. After that I see Jones coming in the last 2 games.
I just want to make sure that last game means something for Philly. If they don't need the game, or they are eliminated, I could see them pretty much either mailing it in (if their season is done) or playing their backups and losing if they've clinched and they want a "week off" prior to the Wild Card round.
Empty wins for the Giants right now are the enemy.

If Jacob deGrom can win back to back Cy Youngs, it means the sports analytics deities have decreed W-L is not of the greatest relevance to evaluating a carter.
Eli’s dad, Archie, was 35-101-3. He would have been a positive asset to virtually any team of his era

Because hes one of the top 15 BEST QBs to ever play the game.
Yeah, I said it. All of his numbers will be forever marred by being on a dumpster fire of a team for half his career.
We dont penalize any other position for the play of the rest of their team.
Put Eli on the Pats and hes no worse than Tom Brady. Hire me as GM and spot me Eli as the QB and even I'll give you at minimum 3 SB rings. He's a dynasty QB who was surrounded by near-unparralled incompetence on absolutely every level.
Jones can benefit from a couple of weeks off. He has 10 games under his belt. I'm sure he is a little banged up mentally and physically and taking a step back for a couple of weeks could prove beneficial in the long run. The Giants season has been a shit show, so what is wrong with turning the page and making things about the end of Eli's run? Let Eli prepare as the starter and have his final start against the Dolphins at Met Life. It's been a rough season for the fans. Let them cheer and say goodbye to Eli. Hopefully, Jones can get back and start the last two games of the season against the Skins and Eagles and finish his rookie season with 12 starts. Who wouldn't have signed for that at the beginning of the year?
This would have been a great opportunity to play Lauletta Â

It's not fucking baseball. There are already others in the Hall, like Sonny Jurgensen, and rightly so.
What there are almost none in the history of pro football are qb's with multiple championships who are NOT in the Hall. Here is the whole list: Tommy Thompson, Jack Kemp, Jim Plunkett. Eli Manning is going into the HOF 5 years after he retires. Book it.
RE: Mara's Trying To Sell Tickets, Increase Interest In The Team Â
If he REALLY was interested in revenue, he would do anything possible to lose these games and draft Chase. Bringing the renewed optimism is what typically grabs the fans' attention. Adding a player like that would create the positive buzz around the team again... maybe. At least until we start losing again.
So, not sure how Eli playing in these games will bring more money into Mara's pockets with the exception of a few more people showing up to the games and selling some beer and hot dogs

It’s the hall of fame. Aka your impact on the game. Can you discuss the nfl and leaving Eli Manning beating the pats twice out of that discussion. No you cannot. He is a hall of famer just look at 2011 season. The gm/front office failed him.

Instead the Giants chose to carry two backups with a combined age of 70.
Astonishingly poor.
Lauletta? The practice squad player who can't beat out a former 6th round pick or the corpse of Josh McCown? All he is a walking justification among good ol' Dave's legion of supporters to throw away 3rd and 4th round picks.

Are you implying that tonight's game is a guaranteed loss?

YES

Love how you attribute that thought to a general cynic vs your internal cynic

See Namath, Joe
A valid concern. But Mara has likely made his decision.
And dream on that we win more than one. Would love to see Eli cap his career with one classic comeback.

Yes, I mean look at how good we are now that he's sitting. I mean, proof is in the pudding.
People afraid that Eli would lose a lot of games happy to see him replaced, others concerned he puts up a winning streak!

December 2 - Shurmur describes Jones' ankle as "game soreness" and should be fine.
December 3 - Tisch speaks.
December 4 - Jones is now in a boot and Eli is starting.
December 7 - Jones out of walking boot
December 9 - Jones will miss 2 weeks and as much as the rest of the season.

This. A thousand times this.
That play should be out of the playbook unless it’s the playoffs. The kid is not a dynamic runner. He’s just going to get hurt.
Stop

Love Eli, but loved the Championships more. Hope he gets in the Hall, but won’t be really upset if he doesn’t.
Phil Simms isn’t there and he did as much for this franchise as Eli. maybe even tougher circumstances.
