Brian Flores shows good promise as a HC ...

Spider56 : 12/9/2019 8:49 am
I was impressed with Miami yesterday .. Flores comes into a dysfunctional organization, loses a fair amount of talent while cleaning house but still fields a competitive team. I loved his emotion at the end of the game after his team got royally screwed by the NFL officiating idiots. It will be interesting to see how they recover next week.
He does seem to show

some very encouraging signs. Would be felling good about about the future in Miami if they can get a QB.
I'm not joking when I say this

Flores deserves coach of the year consideration. He shouldn't win but he definitely has done an excellent job with the complete lack of talent on that team. They're playing hard and have been in most of their games of late.

I had them pegged for 0-16 this season as did many others.

might be the first Belichick assistant to become a good HC.
He has done a great job with a group

akin to Charlie Sheen's Major League Indians. However, being so conservative at the end yesterday cost the team a win. They should have tried more aggressively to score a TD and not just get the Jets to eat up their Time Outs. But, it took a replay over ruling to change victory to defeat.

I agree with Jay - more than half of their team was on waivers

within the last 6 months - including 4/5's of their OL. They traded their 2 best players, both recent top 10ish draft picks, at the beginning of the season. And Xavien Howard, Preston Williams, and a few of their other promising offensive players are on IR. John Jenkins (yes that John Jenkins) is starting for them. Avery Moss (yes that Avery Moss) is in their 2 deep.

Jomal Wiltz, Nik Needam, and Steven Parker are 3 first year undrafted starters in their secondary. They have had 6 different leading rushers this year, 2 no longer even on their roster.

And they are still competing better than Shurmur's squad every single week.
agree

he is going to be a really good coach. He's a real "adult" not this clown Shurmur.

That said, all those guys they got off the street seem more talented than DG's big FA signings.

And they have a boatload of high draft picks coming from all of the trading off talent. They do still need a quarterback. Obviously Fitzgerald is not a long term answer and they do not seem to have faith in Rosen.
Flores and Tomlin

are going to get some of these bum coaches fired.

If I'm an owner, and I see what Flores is doing with a team that was trying to tank games and putting the effort they are giving these last 2 months and I have a team with better talent that is mediocre. I have to ask my coach what is going on before I consider firing him.

Steelers are without Ben, Bell, Brown, benched their backup, traded their third string, playing without their starting RB (Conner), starting WR (Smith-Schuster) and are 8-5 after starting 0-2.

They actually were 1-4 at one point. Think tgey are 7 -1 since with the one L at Cleveland. My god they had better can at least Shurmer and hopefully Gettledouche too
I like him

The roster is absolute trash. They are playing hard and have been competitive lately. That is the most you can ask for from a coach in that situation. Will be interesting to see once they stock up on talent from the draft.
A fantastic Head Coach who will bring success to the Miami Dolphins.

My Brother is a Miami Dolphins fan and I advocated for the hiring of Brian Flores to be the franchises Head Coach. He has pretty much all the traits you want in that role and displays the kind of confidence and tactical awareness to make it in the NFL. Not to mention he passion for the game and leadership, standing by his players while getting the most out of them on the field. This is evident when you take a look at the roster he has to work with which is pretty much filled with undrafted talents and players who have been deemed 'not good enough' by other teams. I'm confident in saying he will succeed in bringing success to the Miami Dolphins.

They started the season with Avery Moss and John Jenkins(still starting on the DL along with UDFA rookie DE Jonathan Ledbetter.

Devante Parker has finally stayed healthy and is playing up to his draft status just in time for free agency.

It is pretty incredible that they have 3 wins with so many UDFA's, waiver claims, and rookies starting. When you look at their starters the only players who you can say are starting caliber players are CB Xavien Howard, WR Devante Parker, TE Mike Gesicki, LB Jerome Baker, and LB Raekwon McMillan. Howard is the only great player they have on their roster after trading away Tunsil and Fitzpatrick.

My buddy is a Phins fan and he is very excited by the draft. He wanted Tua but now because of the injuries he would prefer that they wait until 2021 for Fields or Lawrence unless Tua can be had with a pick out of the top 6.
I'm just going to note

that I know the Flores family and they are all exceptional, wonderful human beings (Brian included). It's too bad his candidacy didn't overlap with an opening for our HC position; he grew up a Giants fan!
I’m seeing the picture of Flores at the end of the game over
Spider56 : 12/9/2019 2:46 pm : link
in my mind and thinking this is the kind of guy I want coaching the Giants. He reminded me of ‘the chin’, the passion and the intensity ... hell I was ready to get up and strap it on.
Make you wonder about Jerod Mayo
Go Terps : 12/9/2019 2:48 pm : link
Supposedly he's looking promising in New England as well, and is only 33.
Flores also played at Boston College.

Usually puts you on John Mara's radar.
