Pretty sure that was Venkman/Murray on the voiceover towards the end. Figure they'll have to work a couple of those guys in somehow?
That voiceover dialogue was taken directly from the first movie, when Venkman and Ray are talking on the steps of the college after being fired by the dean.
Paul Rudd is a good fit for Ghostbusters family, and Carrie Coon is excellent in general.
One thing I noticed right away in the trailer was the gate the kids were approaching - Shandor Mining Company. Ivo Shandor was part of that Gozer cult in the original. I doubt it has real relevance to the plot of this one, but I'd expect a bunch of random callbacks to the original.
Seeing the four uniforms hanging in the closet was pretty cool.
I like Paul Rudd and I'm a big fan of Carrie Coon. Â
I do hope it's not just a bunch of kids fighting ghosts the whole time. I'd imagine whatever climactic confrontation there is at the end will require the old guys to come in and lend a helping hand.
They will undoubtedly have a role, I don't think they'll give many, if any glimpses, of Murray, Aykroyd and Hudson in the trailers.
I do think it will be something like what you mentioned, where they come in later in the movie, at least not until midway through. I think that is where all the talk of "handing off to a newer generation" came in when they first spoke of this movie.
I kind of like that. I think Star Wars movies have largely sucked because they go overboard trying to replicate the tone and atmosphere of the original three while the plot falls short.
This looks like it will still have its moments of Ghostbuster humor, but maybe more in the Stranger Things vein.

I know that the kid from Stranger Things is in it and it seems like an easy connection, but the trailer definitely felt like they were going with that vibe.
Really wouldn't shock me if Janine was written in as Egon's wife - they always had that weird yet hilarious sexual tension (though she and Louis were in a quasi-relationship when the story left off).
Till this comes out!! I’ve been a huge Ghostbusters fan my whole life and this looks to be fantastic! I’m happy they let Jason Reitman take over the reins, as it was his father Ivan who directed the first two. He’ll do the franchise proud

I agree. Kids fighting ghosts with the grown-up toys is kinda cheap.

Fingers crossed, I love Ghostbusters.
It absolutely was. I believe they all are in it at some point.

It will still be fun to see Dr. Peter Venkman again, though.

This article says she'll be in it...
Sigourney Weaver - ( New Window )
Pass.

I'll watch anything she is in.. she's amazing.
Still highway robbery that she never won an Emmy for The Leftovers.
