I'm looking forward to this game. Anyone else excited?

Beezer : 12/9/2019 9:50 am
In a season of downers, I'm genuinely excited to see Eli out there slinging it around. Lower-level excited, mind you.

I think we have a chance at a long-term QB in Jones. Just need to build the team now, and have a semblance of a plan over the next few years.

But in a lost season such as this, I haven't looked forward to a Giants games this much in many weeks.

Hoping for a win, as always. I'm a realist, though. Just hang in there, and see what happens. I get it that a win (or a couple wins) hurts our draft standing, but I hope Eli plays well - even in a loss.

Anyone else actually a bit fired up for the return of #10?
Nope

"Eli Manning Day" in my household. My 8 and 5 year old are excited about it so we're making it a family event.

Chance to send off a franchise icon. Really looking forward to seeing Eli under center one (or four) last time.
I was excited when I first learned he was playing

Then I realized Shurmurs still coaching, the line hasn't improved all season and its the Eagles. I'm hoping he doesn't look like crap and doesn't get maimed.

Very cool.

Oh, where do I sign up?!

The Giants couldn't have come along at a better time for this Eagle team, reeling from painful losses - the cure to EVERY shitty offense is the New York Giant defense.

Watch Wentz light it up for 300+, 4 TD's while Eli is handled like a squirrel in a mad dogs jaws.

We are like that DIY house remodel job that never seems to get finished.

I don't want to see the following these last 4 games:

1) Eli play well enough to where we hear DG and PS talk about how he still has it.
2) Meaningless wins to everyone else but Giants management sees it as a sign they are close.
3) Injuries to players we will count on for next season

I want to see our draft position stay top 2 and that is basically it. There are no moral victories or positive victories for building next year. DJ is shut down or should be and honestly we should limit SB these last 4 games and completely sit him the last 2.
Not at all.

I'm big Eli fan never thought he was the problem. Giants have to look forward. A win does nothing for them. Play all the young players. Findout now what they bring. Then draft Chase Young. Do not blow the chance at Chase Young for a meaningless win
Anyone excited about this game

Will lose said excitement by half time, at the very latest.
It's a sport.
Gmen1982 : 12/9/2019 10:17 am : link
It's supposed to be enjoyable to watch people compete. We do nothing but sit there and watch people that can do things we are not capable of. Even the crappy players on the Giants are better athletes than any of us. My life is the same if they win or lose.

And these coaches know more about football than any of us too. Regardless of how the team looks. The other team gets paid too.

I hate losing to the Eagles, and with the way the Giants are playing, particularly on D, i dont see them winning this game.

I do hope Eli does well though, it will be sad if he has a poor performance.
One thing I have noticed about Eli...
BillKo : 12/9/2019 10:23 am : link
.....is it seems to me he needs to play to get into his groove.

Having sat for 10 weeks or so and not play at full speed...I could really see him taking a full game to get back into it.

That wouldn't bode well for tonight.

Hopefully weather forces the run game, and some play action.
Headed to the game tonight
Dnew15 : 12/9/2019 10:25 am : link

ZogZerg : 12/9/2019 10:26 am : link
My prediction is that Eli moves the team until the usual key drop passes. Then, of course, we will see the usual OL fuck ups with guys not being blocked in the running or passing game that will kill drives. And the icing will be the crappy game management by Shurmur.

Oh yeah, I will change the channel when the D is on the field. Just can't stomach that shit storm on that side of the ball.

The odds of me watching till halftime are pretty low.

He has a near full strength complement on offense and who knows? Maybe it's time for a Giants miracle over the Eagles for a change.
No, it's going to be ugly.
larryflower37 : 12/9/2019 10:47 am : link
the Line has regressed over the last 12 games and Eli has the movement of a tackling dummy.
Philly is playing for a playoff spot and is going to see the blood in the water.

At best it proves to Eli his time is up and he retires at the end of the year vs. him out looking for a job that will never come
Not at all
jlukes : 12/9/2019 10:52 am : link
there's absolutely nothing good that can come out of tonight.

Eli plays poorly and the GIants lost and it further tarnishes the Eli legacy

Eli plays well and the Giants win - the Giants hurt their draft positioning and Shurmur gets a step closer to keepking his job.
I just want a reason to cheer one more time this season.....
Britt in VA : 12/9/2019 10:55 am : link

Giants lose 34-21

Would be much more interested if DJ was playing.
The game will follow one of our two favorite scripts:
CT Charlie : 12/9/2019 11:33 am : link
1) We score a TD on our opening drive, then do nothing except narrow a 17-point gap in the final 5-10 minutes of the game.

2) We go down 14-0 in the first ten minutes, then spend the rest of the game trying to maintain the two-TD difference.
Unfortunately the Eagles have a lot to play for
Rudy5757 : 12/9/2019 11:36 am : link
even if we keep it close I just dont see us winning it. I really dont want us to win it either. I would have preferred that Jones played the rest of the way to prepare for next season. get out 2-14 and have a shot at the #1 overall pick.

I couldnt care less about getting Eli more playing time. I can understand others wanting to see him play but this is not a good scenario for his last hurrah. The players really have no ties to Eli when he was good either. i want to see the guys that are are going to be here next year show improvement and thats it.

I live outside of philly and hate the eagles more than other team by leagues. I'm going to do work at a friend's house tonight with the game in the background. So I have to sit there in a house of eagles fans as we get destroyed. I feel like I'm watching out of duty more than anything at this point. Last year Barkley gave me something to enjoy even in losses. This year has been misery.

F the eagles

I should know we're going to get rolled, but maybe just maybe Eli gives us another miracle.

I saw him warming up with Shep before the game in Chicago and he was slinging it! Thought that was going to be the last passes I saw him throw.
Love Eli.
NoPeanutz : 12/9/2019 1:39 pm : link
Am rooting hard for a win. However, I do not expect to see Eli slinging it at all. The WRs can't get separation and the OL can't OL. Eli will still get creamed. Just when we are ready to see Eli work some magic, it will be POW!!! from the blind side. Or SURGE up the middle of the line, back into the pocket and blowing up the play. At least DJ8 can bail out.

Look for Barkley to have a good game tonight, with the veteran #10 calling out the pressure, instead of the rookie DJ8 or Halapio.

Not really

Stopped being excited after the Lions game. Another season and we’re out of it by the end of Oct. We’ll watch the first half to see how Eli does, but the passion for this season is gone.
What reason is there

To believe Eli will be better now than when he got benched? If I put stale bread in the freezer it's not going to suddenly be fresh when I take it out.

I'll be bowling tonight, if I'm near a TV I'll keep an eye on it and will probably put it on when I get home. Guess it depends on how ugly it is

Greg from LI : 12/9/2019 2:29 pm : link
I can't even comprehend how deluded someone would have to be to get excited about this. Is this really what you want to remember about Eli Manning - getting mauled by the Eagle pass rush, dumpoffs, and throwing into the ground to avoid a sack?
Would love to see Eli go rogue
g-baby : 12/9/2019 2:30 pm : link
and call hos own plays at the line in a no-huddle all game. The Giants offense lights it up. Players, fans, media and ownership realize that our dork-ass head coach has been hamstringing our offense all season and he gets to take the amtrak home alone after being fired in the locker room.

I try not to get too caught up in reminiscing in any part of my life; I believe sentimentality keeps you from experiencing new things...but that's just personal preference. Everybody's different.

Besides, tonight just feels like a sad ending to what's been a partially destroyed career. Tonight has no connection whatsoever to the two Super Bowl titles...now it's just watching Eli do his best not to get his ass kicked - it just reminds me of everything that's gone wrong.

will root for Jones to win but not Eli. Either you want the Giants to win or you don't. Who the starting QB is shouldn't matter. If you believe Eli stinks and the Giants don't have a chance, enjoy the remaining 4 games, knowing that the backup QB won't get it done. Giants are on a 9 game losing streak, Eli gives them the best chance to finish 2-14 (maybe 3-13)

All that said, Im excited to see what a rested Eli can do over the next 2 weeks.

Terps, I understand not getting too caught up in what the past is, good or bad, but I find that quote to be looking down of remembering fond times. If we choose to not remember good times in our lives, bitterness gets a chance to enter our lives and change our perspective to, "when am I going to get a break, or when am I going to have good things happen to me?".

I do appreciate you separating that philosophy with "everyone is different". Because you are right, being different can help us learn new things we possibly had not considered. Thanks for the reply.

That was entertaining for 3 quarters. I turned it off with the Giants up by 14. My wife said "Why are you turning it off? They're winning!" I told her "This game is a rerun - they're going to lose - sleep is more important."
