A loss keeps us ahead of the Redskins, who we still have to play.
A win does what? Will we really feel that much better about a team who’s coach is going to be shit canned anyways? What will this win do for the next regime? Nothing.
I’m normally not one of those fans, but damn. A win does nothing
The idea that one guy turns a team around is foolish. Â
The Giants will get better or worse based on their selection of the next coach and/or front office personnel. If they make the right choice, they will win with or without Chase Young. If they make the wrong choice, it doesn't matter if they draft Cyborg Lawrence Taylor.
Still cannot help root for Eli. A true professional. He wants to win this football game and will give it a try, no matter what transpires.
I'll feel good for Eli if the Giants win ... I think that's the biggest thing for me. Great guy ... has given us some of the club's greatest thrills ... fuck the Eagles. Win!
I spent time with my wife's family yesterday, who are all Eagles fans. They have all given up on the season, so there was nothing bad said. I just had a hard time remembering the last time I spent the holidays with them after the Giants won.
Brain says we need to lose, but my heart always bleeds blue. Â
I could never understand hoping the team loses for draft position. It's just not a good idea to place to much value on any one player never mind one that is not even on the team yet.
I have just seen to much happen... Injury,Illness, car accidents, irresponsible gun play, fireworks mishaps and fatal character flaws.
We can all root for them to win. But they won't because they will find a way to lose and we all know it, and it forces change and a better draft pick. So in reality it's a win!
The shitty feeling I get after a loss sucks, and draft pick hope is no salve for it.
Maybe it'd be different if we were getting a new GM who wanted a different QB. But that's not what's happening here.
but winning does nothing for us at this point. Chase Young is a great player at a major position of need. Getting the 2nd pick in the draft is important.
I want Eli to win the last game of the year against the Eagles while we keep the 2nd pick.
I am numb. I'm disappointed DJ won't play and continue to get more reps. Can he really not play or is this a BS lie? I'm glad that Eli gets to play a game or two to finish his career. I have no expectations for tonight. I almost don't care. I can't believe I just wrote that. If we win then are we screwing ourselves? If we lose I feel like crap too. I'm plain numb.
Rooting for the Giants since the mid 60's and have never hoped for a loss, and tonight is no exception . Go Eli (thanks for the memories) Go blue
We've had some terrible times guys and horrible era's , and until Mara gets his head out of his ass I fear this is going to keep going on, no matter WHERE we draft.
its simple. we need an impact defender or a stud OT. BOTH will be available in the top 3. we still could pick #1 overall...im all for that!
as well as later on in the draft IF a team knows what it is doing!!! I like CY but damn, if im sitting up that high in the draft and some team comes at me with multiple day 1/high day 2 picks and maybe a #1 for next year....??? Do I like CY THAT much, so much that I am going to pass up the opportunity to upgrade the OL AND the rest of the defense? Man....this guy better be REALLY REALLY good if a package like that if offered and turned down. Hard for ONE guy to turn a team around..everyone here was in love with Josh Allen last year; damn good player, how is Jax season going???
divisional games are the best because dealing the opponent a loss is very satisfying. The Eagles need this game to save their season and the Giants are in a position to put 60d nails in their coffin. The game is predicated on winning and bodies are being worn down. I have rooted for this team (Giants) for over 40 years and I want to see the lads win. The Giants will earn their draft pick. By playing to win to end the season strong may help chemistry and signing talent this off-season. Who wants to play for an organization who quits or looks for excuses? The front office has to nail each selection regardless of position. Good times will return if the front office manages to acquire actual NFL players with each pick (properly scouted). The team cannot be built on poor drafts and using FA to solve many problems.
The main reason being, I think if we end up 2-14, there is a slight chance that Mara will fire Gettleman's ass. Otherwise, I think he'll be back with or without Shurmur.
Everyone who is rooting for the Giants to win seems to make the case that we want Eli's starting record to be above .500. But Jones has a high ankle sprain. I doubt he plays another down this season given the nature of an injury like that and the fact they are best off protecting him and protecting the franchise's future. Eli would have to go 3-1 over the last 4 games, not just 1-0 tonight, to be able to finish his career with a winning record. Do we really think this team is going 3-1? Do we even want them to go 3-1?
This is basically a 2 player draft in 2020. I mean, sure there are other great players, but 2 that are obviously most coveted. Burrow is the clear-cut hot name for next NFL Franchise QB, and although the Giants don't need a Franchise QB, teams are willing to trade an arm and a leg for one of those if they think he's "their guy" (which inevitably several teams will). When a franchise QB is projected to be the #1 or #2 pick, trade value charts go out the window and it's all about the highest bidder. The Giants have a chance to either get a franchise-altering haul in a trade or a defense-altering player in Chase Young. I'll be happy with either one. But we need to be in the top 2, and the more we win the less likely that becomes.
Just want to win two more @ Philly and season finale vs. Philly. Good chance 4 wins keeps us at the No. 2 pick. If not, c'est la vie. Beat those "green turds*"
*I think Eric conined that a couple years ago after the ridiculous GW FG
for a better draft position just don't get it. We've had a great draft position the last 2 years...how is that working out so far? And besides, no matter how you're rooting, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference in the final outcome of the game, or any personnel moves in the future. None. We don't get a vote. I always root for a win once the game starts, then deal with whatever happens after the games.
RE: I'm maintaining hope that 2-14 shocks Mara awake Â
The worst record since 1966, with a 12 game losing streak to close out the season...maybe that's enough for Mara to do something.
If you listen to Lombardi, he thinks Tisch will press Mara. I think that is encouraging. Enough is enough. I do think 2-14 will clear the deck, but it will be very hard to go 2-14 with the opponents on the schedule (mainly MIA & WSH).

That's where my interest lies. I don't really care about drafting Chase Young, or doing anything with the current roster one way or the other. None of that is making any real difference. The pile of shit has finally reached the owner's office. I want to see if he's going to start shoveling.

Yes, I want to see him beat the Eagles.
Yes, I want to see Eli retire with a W/L record over .500
Yes, It would feel good to get a win.
That all being said...
I really want this team to move on from Pat Shurmur.
I really want Chase Young.
But for Eli.. I gotta root for him. It's our last chance to and he deserves to go out the right way.
It's unavoidable...
I'll feel good for Eli if the Giants win ... I think that's the biggest thing for me. Great guy ... has given us some of the club's greatest thrills ... fuck the Eagles. Win!
Our franchise is so hopeless fucked right now, I don't think it makes a big difference what order we draft if the same clowns keep running the show.

Damn. That puts shit into perspective. Fuck the Eagles.

We've been losing for 8 years now and that changes haven't worked.
The types of changes this team needs are ones that ownership is unwilling to provide.

I think this season, should they lose out, will be embarrassingly bad. Already it's been bad enough to get Tisch to chime in...
Being an embarrassment should drive the changes needed

I would love to knock the Eagles out of the post season
IF giants wins ome games here, they might bring shurmur back, is that really worth it for some meaningless wins ?? no way
Thai is if we must...

For whatever reason, generational DE prospects often don’t pan out as expected. Young looks great but you never know
247s mock has them going 1-3 with Tua 4th and Burrow 10th

Still cannot accept the status quo, it's closing in on the definition of insanity.
Sorry, but Eli is not our future and I don't want Mara & Co getting any bright ideas.

That speaks more about the buffoon making the picks than the value of the pick position itself.
