The NFL league office is investigating the Patriots for videotaping the Bengals play calls during their last game. This is from Dianna Russini on Twitter.
But how would they know that it was the Patriots? Was there some assistant dressed up in Pats garb with a video camera filming from the sidelines or something?
Patriots’ advance scout was not filming but being filmed, per a league source. He was being filmed for a feature the team produced called, "Do Your Job." The video crew was credentialed by the Browns to shoot video in the press box and their PR person was aware, per the source
All the times the Pats have been caught cheating (spygate, deflate-gate, Edelman PEDs), usually when someone is lying/cheating you only see about 5% (the tip of the iceberg) of the lies. I guarantee you they do a lot more cheating to gain every advantage they possibly can. I have no doubt BB is a genius, don't get me wrong, and Brady is certainly the GOAT QB... but thems is a buncha cheaters up there I can tell you that much.

Sounds like the perfect cover story to film the Bengals play calling. Have someone else get caught filming and you have plausible deniability. That's page one from the Cris Carter playbook, haha.
Tweet from @AlbertBreer: The issue here was that neither the Bengals nor the league were informed of this. So Cincinnati officials found it strange when a Patriots videographer was setting up a tripod and shooting down to the field -- especially since the two teams play Sunday. The concern, on the Bengals' end, was that the Patriots' videographer was shooting Cincinnati's bench area. So the Bengals reported it to the league, and NFL Security, as it normally would, is now investigating the case.

Or, that could just be the most ingenious cover story of all time for a good reason to have a camera in perfect position for spying. "For all the world to see"... No better place to hide than in plain sight ;)
No, in all seriousness, maybe this is a non-story like you said. But I think people have good reason to be wary of the Pats based on past behavior. Again, maybe not this time, but where there is smoke there is fire, and I would say the Pats cheat in every way they possibly can and we maybe find out about 1% of the offenses.
Keep hearing this crap. Pats fans always say that everyone is doing these things, but the Patriots are the only ones that keep getting nailed. I don't believe it. I don't believe that there is a conspiracy to take down the Pats for things "most teams" are doing. The most obvious explanation is that the Pats are the biggest offenders.
Ummm... does the NFL video tape every play from the Bengals Â

The thing is. Who the hell would care to see a documentary on an "Advance Scout" anyway? There's hundreds of people who work for the Pats organization and they choose this guy to make a documentary about? That's the weird thing to me. It's just quite a coincidence that they have cameras that can record anything from that vantage point in the stadium, they play the Bengals next week, and it was a home game for the Browns so it was easier to clear without the Bengals knowing.
Again, maybe this is a non-story. But considering the Pats have been guilty of this "spying" bullshit before I don't think people are wrong to do a double-take here.
about many of their employees. This was just another chapter.
The first Spygate was non-sense. It was Mangini trying to stick it to his former employer. As Jimmy Johnson said during that incident, he and the Cowboys did it. Everyone did it.
But the league decided to pound the Pats because of the jealousy of the rest of the owners.

You're right that everyone "does it", but the difference is that there are designated areas to do the filming and the Pats were caught filming from an unauthorized location. I believe Jimmy Johnson meant that everyone does it in that everyone films each other, but the Pats are the ones who try to go the extra step, filming from unauthorized areas, and now possibly filming the week before a game which is also unauthorized action.
" Videotaping opposing coaches is not illegal in the NFL de jure, but there are designated areas allowed by the league to do such taping. Because the Patriots were instead videotaping the Jets' coaches from their own sideline during the game, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell deemed it to be in violation of league rules, stating that the act represented a calculated and deliberate attempt to avoid long-standing rules designed to encourage fair play and promote honest competition on the playing field."
Rules matter, and they are put in place so that everyone is aware of them and can operate by the same rules. Mangini maybe just was onto BB BECAUSE he was a former employee. He knew what to look for and where and he yeah he decided to stick to BB, but it wasn't a total non-issue.
The Pats go that extra step in everything, and that's partly what makes them great, but they go that extra step in the underhanded stuff that "everyone does" as well to a point where breaking a rule or two here or there doesn't really matter to them as long as they have that extra advantage. BB is a genius, no doubt, but with that comes the fact that he's also basically a criminal genius and knows the ins and outs of where he might and might not get caught breaking/bending the rules a bit (same can be said for Brady, I believe). I got a notification from bleacher report earlier. I read the first line and said ooooo here we go again, then I got to the 2nd line and saw it was against the bengals and immediately thought.. yeah this is bullshit, why would the Pats cheat against the Bengals?
Half hour later get a notification confirming it was bullshit lol

Why do people get so mad at anyone who even hints at the possibility that maybe, just maybe, the Pats are cheaters and take things to an illegal extent that other teams simply don't?
People who call these things a "non-story" from the jump without waiting for all the facts to come out just strike me as incredibly gullible. Like, of course if it's a well thought out plan to break the rules, the cheater is going to have a perfect alibi ready and handy when they get caught. People seem to seem think that if they Pats were to cheat it would have to be Belichick himself literally going to Cincinatti and wearing a glasses-and-mustache disguise holding a camcorder. Of course they're going to set it up in a way that would A) most likely go undetected to the unsuspecting eye and B) couldn't be tied back directly to Belichick or anyone in football operations.
But, why would they SPY on the Bengals of all teams? Does Cincy have 1 win yet? If they got caught spying on Baltimore - that I understand ... But, The BENGALS? That makes no sense at all.

Where do you see they asked the Bengals? Rapoport said they asked the Browns not the Bengals.

They were filming the Bengals sideline. That's the problem.
