Franchise/Transition Tag Numbers Are Out

Saos1n : 12/9/2019 6:13 pm
Perhaps they have been, but I hadn’t seen them.

A few numbers that stand out, in regards to Leonard Williams

DE - $19.3M
DT - $15.5M

One would assume, a tag would be applied if a long term deal isn’t reached. If, DG is still in role. If not, who knows what will happen.

Williams

cannot make less than $17.04M since his salary this year was $14.2M and both the FT and TT $$$ have to be at least 120% of your salary before you were tagged.

So DT tag doesn't save as much if he can be classified as a DT.

those are projected it seems, doesn't sound like those are official.
pjcas is right on both points...

Fuck Leonard Williams and that horrible trade at this point.

Re-Sign Golden
Extend Engram and Peppers
Dump Solder & Ogletree
Pay Cut for Janoris
Go after Trent Williams and Von Miller
Or tier 2... Castonzo and Clowney

And pray for Young... if not pray for a kings ransom.
Say its the DT #

How in the hell can you pay Williams 15.5 million a year? I've been told Dalvin Tomlinson is good even though he doesn't make the stat sheet. How many Pro Bowl type DL can we have on this team that we never hear about during the game? The trade itself is a fireable offense.
Extend Engram?

He misses too games and his inconsistent play when he is healthy I believe does not warrant an extension.

It's going to be #17M+ as the franchise tag.

At this point, $15.5M would be a bargain...

I don't see how he is worth one year at either price.
They don' t have to tag him
tomjgiant : 12/9/2019 7:16 pm : link
Nobody is going to pay him that much. That doesn't mean they can't agree on a good deal.
He won't

Get either tag... With or without Gentleman...he's not a top ten player at his position. I would be OK with 12.5 to 13.5 per season for 4 years. He is young and versatile.
And I'm Sure
Bradshaw's Decal : 12/9/2019 7:20 pm : link
He would take it... Apparently he and his family love NY.
Draft an edge

Rusher in round 1...oline in round 2...best available afterwards... Mid level free agents and we're in business next year! Let me call Dave now!!! :)

You really have no understanding of the current market and player valuations. I suggest you at least peak at Spotrac to get a sense of players by position and their salaries.

LW is getting at least $18M if we don't tag him...easily.
Too much money for him
Biteymax22 : 12/9/2019 8:05 pm : link
Could be used to patch other, more important holes. Pass at those prices.
It's sad to realize
Leg of Theismann : 12/9/2019 8:30 pm : link
DG made this trade in a last ditch effort to try to win a few meaningless games down the stretch and keep his Shurmur's jobs safe. He was clearly just trying to show they had built some sort of "momentum" and made progress finally and yet they haven't won a game since bring LW in. He mortgaged future resources to try to protect his current regime. At this point we have to realize he's in way over his head, he's a dinosaur and the game has passed him by and he's doing anything he possibly can to try to save his own ass because he knows this is the last GM job he'll ever have. You can't sit here an tell me you'd rather have LW who will now cost $20M just to keep him on the roster next year as opposed to the #65 pick or somewhere around that in next year's draft. We could have gotten a player that was no worse than LW, but someone who is a lot cheaper and actually has some upside.
Too many people listen to Bart Scott, who I like, and Jets fans when
Zeke's Alibi : 12/9/2019 8:37 pm : link
it comes to Leonard Williams. They drafted him expecting a two way animal. He's more like Vernon. Just like we hate Vernon because he signed a ridiculous contract which in today's cap number would be like 24 million. At 18 million id resign LW but if he wants more you can't just hand him all the bags. And 12 million? Jesus Christ, if thats the way you are looking at talent we are going to end up like the Dolphins, just devoid of players.
