It was f***ing premature for our moron HC to bench Eli

BlueHurricane : 12/9/2019 9:43 pm
After week 2. A week in which he played with Bennie Fucking Fowler and Cody Latimer as his starting receivers. No Sterling, No Tate, No Slayton but sure let’s make the decision to bench Eli after that game.

If Eli played this whole year we wouldn’t be great but we damn sure would have been in the NFC East race.

it was the right decision

And I am a huge Eli supporter, however, I bet Mara is thinking the same as the OP. This may ironically what makes he definitely get rid of Shurmur.
Hindsight is 20/20 isn't it?

You forget that Eli wasn't playing all that great the first 2 weeks and looked old & past his prime
Starting Jones was clearly the right move. Going forward, Jones will

be a better player.
Only took a half for this shitty take to start

i underestimated the stupidity. Go follow eli on his next team next year
No

it wasn't.
The thing is, you really don't know what
phil in arizona : 12/9/2019 9:50 pm : link
you have the first 4 weeks of the season or so.

It should have been a week 5 or 6 decision.

That month of starting experience isn't going to mean much in the grand scheme of things.
No

The Eagles secondary is one of if not the worst in football. They get lit up week in and week out.
Most,y agree
giantsFC : 12/9/2019 9:53 pm : link
Eli does look sharp. Jones looks like a potential bust. Probably bc they threw him to the wolves. Maybe this helps him learn from watching. Something they should have done at least another 6 games.

But now is not the time to be winning! There goes the chance for our top pick. *enter Dave gettledouche to draft a DT Or CB w pick no 7
Thrilled so far for Eli
PatersonPlank : 12/9/2019 9:54 pm : link
but with the crappy state of this team we needed to start over. No reflection on Eli, but more on the state of the Giants
No Jones had to play to see what we had
montanagiant : 12/9/2019 9:56 pm : link
But it is great watching vintage Eli tonight
He could have waited until week 8
BlueHurricane : 12/9/2019 9:57 pm : link
If Eli was 2-6 then fine. Jones gets half a season

A potential bust? Based on which of his 300+ yard 4 TD games exactly?
Have any of you people actually watched the Eagles lately?

Utterly delusional
Eli is done
Mark from Jersey : 12/9/2019 10:00 pm : link
The Eagles suck and we are losing out on Young.

Slayton though...my god. Nice to (maybe) not have to worry about WR THAT much come 2020 draft.

Do me a favor and look up how many yards the offense put up week 1 and week 2. And then the following weeks. Get back to me ;-)

They paid Eli a shit ton of money for this year. Benching him in week two was just a tremendous waste of asset allocation. Inexplicable really. A reflection of how poorly this team has been run. He should have been given half the season at least.

I watched the Giants lose to the fucking Jets. The same Jets that lost to the Fish and the Bengals. You make like beating Philly was a foregone conclusion.

No.

I base it on his 700000 fumbles lost, inability to get rid of the ball, his penchant for losing, and now his inability to stay healthy for a season as a QB.

Yah def no signs of being a bust.

eli didn't have slayton the first two weeks, nor tate, and even though quadzilla was healthy buffalo has shown to have one of the best pass defenses in the league. tampa bay, jones' coming out party, has one of the worst.

im definitely not as high on jones as some are on this site but either way i think it's reasonable to say that benching eli after 2 games might have been premature.

Why? So you can satisfy whatever fetish you have? The team is in the middle of a rebuild and Eli is going to be 39 in 3 weeks. Learn to enjoy memories.
Don't worry eli will be starter next year

You’re worried about Jones’s fumbles so you wanted to keep the guy who has more turnovers than anybody in the league since he made his NFL debut?

Interesting hill to die on.

The asset allocation argument is about having kept Eli, not about having benched him. GTFO if you’re going to try to make playing Eli the sound fiscal decision.
Have to disagree
Beer Man : 12/9/2019 10:24 pm : link
The team was going nowhere, so it was time to start building for the future and getting ahead of the learning curve with DJ.
It was f***ing premature for our moron HC to bench El

cut the b.s. he still needs to retire, hasn't done a damn thing in the 2nd half as of this post.
Good lord.
Steve L : 12/9/2019 10:48 pm : link
Do people not understand that this team was going no where from start. To let Eli play this far into the season would have wasted an entire year production wise. Sometimes I wonder why Eli was started at all.
It's remarkable
MookGiants : 12/9/2019 10:50 pm : link
how fucking dumb people on BBI are.

Eli never should have been on the roster this year.

The Giants would have 1 win if Eli were the starter this year. He would have made zero difference in any of the losses. The Bucs game Giants never would have won without Jones
Listen we could win
Carl in CT : 12/9/2019 10:50 pm : link
But Eli has 11 yds in second half
Everybody is looking for easy answers
LakeGeorgeGiant : 12/9/2019 10:50 pm : link
There are none, keeping Eli under center would have accomplished nothing. The problems with this team are numerous.
Still feel the same
JerryNicklebag : 12/9/2019 11:38 pm : link
After that second half?
24 yards passing all half
Carl in CT : 12/9/2019 11:40 pm : link
Discussing!!!
I love Eli
RasputinPrime : 12/9/2019 11:40 pm : link
but what good would it have done to play him this year? There is no chance we make the playoffs with him and we needed to know what we have with Jones.

The entire transition has been handled poorly - from the GM to the coaches.
Has a thread ever aged this poorly this fast?
