The Defense has no leaders. A Pierce was the last great inside LBer this team has had. He could lead and get everyone lined up right, let alone make a tackle!
It just never gets better. There's no real progress for years now. Every year is the same as the last. At best they're a stagnated franchise. The reality is worse than that.
And Shurmur really makes McAdoo look like Parcells. If nothing else this game will erase all doubts about the Giants plans. Not even Mara can balk at firing that loser.
I don’t think it’s the worst giants team ever ... not by a long shot.
But, it is the worst coaching staff we’ve ever had ....and probably the sorriest set of tight ends, and inside linebackers ever to wear the uniform.
Watching Ogletree play the run and the pass is downright ugly.

So what’s the difference? Coaching staff is integral part of the team.
has a unique talent for losing. Seriously. To go up 17-3 on a team struggling in bad weather, with no WRs, and come out in the 2nd half and do NOTHING? And have a defense that can be completely counted on to wilt? No not make 1 freaking play? Twice Ogletree had Wentz dead to rights for sacks and both times CW got the pass off. Beal getting handsy on 3 and 10? Leaving a TE open at the goalline, the best player on their O? Eli with the overthrows. The play calling? Leaving 1:30 after a failed game winning "drive" which never saw us get the ball to SB? We have Tate, Sheppard, and Barkley and cannot get more than 1 first down. In a half. Against a team with a losing record, not some good team. A flea flicker called at a weird time, and in which our LT give up a pressure so fast the QB is getting hit as get gets the pitch? We give help to our LT and he's still getting destroyed? Jackrabbit faked out of his jock? This team is just. so. bad.
No. It's the worst coaching staff ever. If you watched in the 70's you know what it really looks like to have no players. This roster isn't that.
The Shurmur/Betccher tandem is in the running for worst coaching combination in NFL history.
I agree with this. I just can't understand why we aren't winning some games. The 1970's teams were hopeless, no talent at all. This team has a lot of good young players. The coaching is awful however. Tonight is a perfect example. I don't feel like our guys lost it on the field, the coaches took it away,
I didn't start REALLY watching the Giants closely until 1986, but I watched them as a kid in the 70s. And, at least then you had Jack Gregory, Doug Kotar, Harry Carson Dan Lloyd, Brad Van Pelt, John Mendenhall and Spider Lockhart to root for. On this team, there's none of those guys. It's a bland team full of loafing, non-hustling players that don't give a shit and give up plays/ wont tackle.
Who has elite potential on this roster? Barkley, if he isn't damaged goods already. Lawrence. Jones, if you squint hard enough. That's pretty much it. Love might be an adequate NFL starter, which is basically All Pro by Giants standards. Carter sucks, Ximenes sucks, Beal sucks, Hill sucks.
Here are a few positives with the roster from tonight Â
Slayton is a legit find and has a bright future. Ximines has real pass rush tools and got home twice...very encouraging. Baker was put in man coverage and I don't think he gave up a completion tonight. Tomlinson and Hill both got pressure from the IDL spot. Lawrence penetrated and had some nice run stuffs.
The Eagles didn't do shit against us until they started working the flats with short passes and our DC never made an adjustment to stop it.
Been a fan since 1962. This is the worst coaching staff I can remember. Other then Special teams. I do see some very talented players on this roster. But not many.

Far too much emotion on this. I think with a decent, not even good set of coaches, you'd see there are some pretty good players.
Just a poorly coached team and getting worse coaching every week.

I honestly think that is a nonsensical comment. Jones and Lawrence if we squint hard enough? Stop it. The team is horrible. But it's idiotic to say that we don't have guys with potential. Slayton has the look of an excellent WR. It's not our fault Eli and the coaching staff said screw it with throwing it to him in the second half.
Coaching matters. If we get a competent GM and coach in here (a la Shanahan and Lynch), this team could improve quickly. You people ignore that.
These protestations that the roster is just dripping with big talent are what's nonsensical. They're based on nothing but blind Faith in the dipshit running the Giants and his purported great eye for talent. It's certainly not rooted in performance on the field.
that lost to MIAMI last week - and that's AFTER they lost two key players to injury during tonight's game.
The coaches are no good, but the roster is trash. That's why there are no solid individual performances coming out of any of these guys. Even the one player every Gettleman supporter is destined to defend to their last breath, Leonard Williams, had a good first half and then disappeared.
Baker had a good game. Ximinis had a good game. Lawrence had a good game. To name three quickly off the top of my head. Slayton had a good game. That's four.
As usual you're wrong.

Baker had a good game - by what standard?
Slayton definitely had a good game - so there's 1. Ximines was going against a guy who had just come in for an injured player and who himself stinks, but let's call that two. Lawrence? Half a game counts as a good game now?
Two out of 53.
And as always, I cite as evidence the Giants record Â
They are what their record says they are, every bit the laughing stock most NFL analysts thought they would be prior to the season just by looking at that ridiculous roster that Gettleman crafted.

Love had a good game, Tomlinson was good too. People lose the good play for the sake of the loses. But guys who didn't see some of those 70s squads have no idea what bad is. Baker was all over his WRs almost all the time. So ok , the WRs were shit or a middling rookie. Still, you have to play them, right? It's not like our DBs haven't struggled to cover Dallas' 3rd string TE... J something.
But the hen Ertz is UNCOVERED BY ANYONE for the winning score, that's coaching malfeasance.
The fucking worst
Nope Shurmur didn’t inherit a team with any talent on it. We gutted the entire team in his 2 seasons.

Knicksian in their awfulness.
There is no one on this roster remotely on Harry Carson or Brad van Pelt's level.

Honestly, this team maybe better than some other ones because they probably won't fuck up the draft pick.
The Eagles didn't do shit against us until they started working the flats with short passes and our DC never made an adjustment to stop it.
Ditto. And I also have to deal with being born on the same day/month/year as Tom Brady.

Usually posters as bad as you slow down with repeated embarrassments but you keep doubling down on stupid.

This is the second worst Giants team. Worse than anything from the 1970s.
