We can all agree on 1 thing - something we learned tonight

is that there's a time to call a flea flicker, and a time *not* to call a flea flicker...

...and that was certainly NOT the time for it.

Shurmur must have done it for the "how come we never run any trick plays" crowd.
That playcall was downright embarresing
PatersonPlank : 12/10/2019 12:06 am : link
Its long yardage so the defense is playing back anyway, then they make it look even worse by only rushing 3. Its just a terrible call by a supposed "offensive genius".
It was actually a decent try...

You realize all the DBs (foolishly) came up right?

He actually got em on the call.

They're even talking about it on this eagles forum I go to once in a while (it's a philly board and I'm a sixers fan)

They're ripping into their coaches and DBs for the fact they actually fell for it...

Yeah the Iggs actually all bit in a big wave ... Would have been perfect but for Solder.
...
BleedBlue : 12/10/2019 12:24 am : link
nah, it wasnt a bad call AT ALL. BB and co do this too to try and manufacture scores. if our LT could block for like a half a second, it would have worked...
It would have worked

If you watch the replay
BlackLight : 12/10/2019 12:41 am : link
every single Philly linebacker bit on the fake run, so if the blocking had held up even reasonably well, that might've gone for big yardage.
The second level bit - 8 yards deep
jcn56 : 12/10/2019 12:46 am : link
on a 3rd and 13. That play was destined for failure, before Solder did his usual bang-up blocking job.

Golden Tate was wide open. Go rewatch the play. It was actually a great call if Solder could block.
It's on Art Stapleton's Twitter
Big Rick in FL : 12/10/2019 6:28 am : link
It would've been a walk in TD for Tate. Literally he could have walked.
Papa and Banks
BBelle21 : 12/10/2019 6:59 am : link
said Tate was wide open. It would have been a TD if not for Solder getting beat. They said it was fortunate Eli even was able to get it back to Barkley so fast. That’s a play that would have turned into a fumble or sack with Jones. Only pointing that out because I’m not sure why either QB gets criticized so much around here.

Exactly. I can't believe it, but the play actually worked. Eli had Slayton WIDE OPEN 10 yards past the safety in the middle of the field. Solder blew that play. It was a touchdown.

My bad, it was TATE who was all alone.

Open. 1 second more blocking and that's a TD.
So the coaching was good

I would love to see a replay of that if somebody has it as although the call made no sense, I think he had somebody open over the top in the middle of the field.
It actually would have been a big play to Tate if they protected

But the Hog Mollies that our GM has on the OL completely blew it.

worst coached gave of the season by him. Eli hitting a few deep shots in the first half and Wentz throwing balls into the dirt didn't make his coaching any better. The guy is just a loser. I've never seen any other coach get bluffed him into a time out with the punt team trick again, no less twice within a month, and the end of game delay on the time out was just hilariously stupid. The guy is born to lose.
This thread is a great example as to why
Mike in Long Beach : 12/10/2019 9:58 am : link
the entire organization needs to be gutted. It's fair to blame the call and it's fair to blame the execution on almost every play. There's constant, horrid contributions to the game from everyone involved, and it's so muddled you can't even distinguish who's most culpable.
