for most of the decade. Handley got a Super Bowl winning roster and couldn't do shit with them. Then the second he was gone, they went right back to 11 wins with Phil and LT on fumes.
RE: Ray Handley had Lawrence Taylor and Phil Simms Â
When the season was kicking off, and beat writers and national press alike were putting together their 'power rankings' and people were laughing at the Giants, there was a strong contingent on BBI that thought that the Giants "solid finish" last season was the turning point, and the Giants were going to prove them all wrong.
Guess what - it wasn't that hard to predict the Giants futility. That roster stinks from top to bottom.
So while Handley did have a couple of memorable wins - he did it with great talent. Barry Switzer won a Super Bowl that way. Talent is more important in the NFL than coaching. You need both, but you can get by with a bad coach easier than you can with bad talent.
RE: You're making the same mistake a lot of BBI is, overrating Â

I'm not overrating anything.
But the Giants were up 17-3 against a bad Eagles team that just lost their best WR and OT in the same game. They were done, toast.
All we had to do is gain more than two first downs in the second half. We couldn't.
I wanted Handley gone. But not as badly as I want Shurmur away from this team.
I think with that roster Shurmur could go 6-10 lol. But clearly there is a coaching issue. There is talent on the team. We've seen it in flashes but after all these games they haven't been able to put it together. That is clearly coaching.
How is it that the Dolphins who gutted their team midseason has looked like a better team. Its coaching.
I'm still trying to figure out what Shurmer was thinking Â
at the end of the game. He is frozen when eagles bring out the offense. Lets forty seconds run off the clock and then calls time out with 17 seconds left. Doesn't put in punt block or set up a return. Takes knee.

He said in the presser, he wanted to ensure the Eagles punted so the Giants could "make a play"
I have no idea what he is talking about. He is lost and the team loses. Imagine they lose out? What a disgrace.
I think you're right Eric. I never thought there could be another Â

a disgrace and a clown o
There’s 1 huge difference between the Hanley & Shurmur years... Â
Back then, the stadium was filled with passionate, longtime Giant fans who vented big time about the bad coaching ... I sat next to Ray Hanley’s wife (section 110, row 36) for several years. She was a really nice lady and it was painful to hear 76000 people scream for her husband’s head. You knew the Mara’s had to listen to this.
Now the stadium is filled with corporate types and so many opposing fans the raw emotion is lost and left to social media.
Ouch
If everyone can accept the three following points, we can will Mara into change:
- worst front office in 40 years
- worst coaches in 40 years
- worst roster in 40 years
That doesn't happen by accident.
Tim Mara starts it. Wellington grows it. John blows it.
Today we're reading posts about how Leonard Williams, who was cast aside by the Jets, is the Giants best defensive player.
Let that one sink in a bit.

Handley was not a good coach. But he went 8-8 in his first year including a memorable opening win against the 49ers at the Meadowlands.
Shurmur is a train wreck.

But it doesn't matter. They're both atrocious.
Shurmur and Bettcher should both be shown the door.
I mean i've never seen such stupid shit in my life.
they are fucking PATHETIC
Any other coach in the world wins that game.
Shurmur has no idea how to win a game, no clue.
I still think about them blowing a 10 point lead vs Chicago with less than 2 min in the game last year.
I know they wont, but i wish they would fire him today

So maybe there CAN be another LT? :-)
Chase Young? Could he be 75% as impactful as LT? That would be a nice consolation prize for this misery.
