Earlier during the season, I said that Pat Shurmur will be the head coach going into next year; I also said if you get rid of Shurmur, you get rid of Gettleman (package deal). We all know James Bettcher is out of here.
After watching consecutive losses and the way the Giants lost to the eagles, I am starting to think both the GM and the head coach will be gone.
Gettleman's draft has been good overall (even though 2018 has not played well this year) and he didn't have as much money during the past 2 offseason as we will have this upcoming offseason; but he is the one who made this roster and this is what Pat Shurmur is working with.
I never seen the Giants this bad before, they are worse than Mcadoo's giants.
What is your opinion on Shurmur and Gettleman? Will they both be gone or just 1 of them? Who you think the Giants replace them with?
He had 3 first round picks last year. Baker who knows, Lawrence is pretty good but not at a premium position. Jones looks good but still need to see more.
His 2018 draft that he was widely praised for looks terrible this year. Barkley somehow doesn't get any shit from fans despite being a negative pretty much the entire season. You can't take a running back #2 overall and get this type of season from him in his prime. These are supposed to be his best years and he's been bad this year. Great last year, bad this year. If he is bad again next year that pick will look like an epic failure.
It's still too early for 2019 draft since we need more time.
I see Gettleman 1 more year and think hes's gone if we dont make the playoffs next year.
What do you think about Gettleman's status?

Giving Gettleman one more year would be a total disaster. You can't fire the coach and then put the GM on notice that he has to win or else. The last thing any of us should want is Gettleman spending a ton of money to win 7 games next year and hurting the future.
You can't fire a coach, let the GM hire his 2nd coach, and then fire the GM the following season. Then you have a coach already there that the new GM might not want.
There is not one good reason to bring DG back next year.
Enough of this Giants way bullshit. They have one way, losing. If Johnny Boy does not make drastic changes, we’ll all be talking about the same incompetence in 2 years.

That's why I wrote next to it in Parenthesis saying that 2018 draft haven't played well this year; they played better last year than this, no question about that.

Mook you get it. Surprise it's not obvious to all.
He didn't look hurt last night, he had his burst. He just wasn't any use.

Sadly he's probably not on the hot seat, but he should be. The Leonard Williams trade was stupid and if Reese had done that the forum would have melted down.
His FA signings have been terrible. What have his many trades actually produced? He brought in Shurmer.
This offseason we have cap space and another critical pick, maybe the most important draft in forty years. The have Barkley entering his prime and Jones a crucial year two. You want Dave making those picks and hiring the next coach.

The legend of Gettleman’s drafts. Nothing is more out of touch with reality. He took Lorenzo Carter (the Adrien Robinson of LBs) and BJ Hill (Hog Mollie extraordinaire) one spot ahead of stud LB Fred Warner (over 200 tackles combined 1st two seasons). Saquon is the most overrated player in the NFL. Smart teams roll 3 or 4 RBs deep (see Ravens, 9ers, Saints oh and the 2007 and 2011 Giants) and don’t put all their resources into one back. The fact that Jon Hilliman actually played for the Giants this season is an indictment of their failure to properly evaluate the RB position. Hernandez is OK, not great and LOLauletta. Fail to see what people see in this draft.

SPIN MOVE SAQUON. Why take positive yards when you can spin twice and lose 7?

not the "giant" way. pat's toast...not a head coach.

Yup. And lets be serious. Gettleman is 70. He was a short time “fix”. He needs to “retire” and a real GM who can objectively evaluate this shit roster and has a vision of how to win in TODAYS NFL - not 1986 - must be brought in, in tandem with a young, innovative HC.

Agree 100%.
Unfortunately I fear Gettleman will be back next year.
And the dipshit coach inexplicably has no idea how to use him.
RBs are one of the most injured positions in the NFL. It's a huge risk to take one at #2.
"Overall, injury rates are fairly consistent across different positions, with a few exceptions. As expected, running backs are at the highest risk of injury, and their injuries average significantly longer in length than any other position."

I think SB's psyche is affected at this point. how many times can you can you get hit in the backfield, sometimes by multiple defenders, before you go a little nuts and try anything to gain some yardage!!!
