We need a football "savior"

But who?

I've been trying to think if there is one name at either the front office or head coach level that might be even remotely possible at the end of the season and I can't come up with a name that could get the majority of BBI together on the hire.

There doesn't seem to be a slam dunk Bill Parcells following up Dave Campo situation here for us.

BB and John Harbaugh are the 2 best coaches in the sport at any level, but either would be a total pipe dream.

You can probably make a case for Jim Harbaugh but for those who follow Michigan, would he leave? Urban Meyer is great but mercurial. Nick Saban would bring instant credibility but age is a factor.

There are a bunch of young and exciting coordinators/college HCs but you can't overlook the risks that any of them could be the next Gase/Shurmur/McAdoo. Rhule, Riley, Richard, Campbell. Those guys would be exciting until the minute they start 1-3 and the sharks are circling again.

Then you have Rivera, McCarthy and probably Garrett which is where I tend to think ownership will look. Problem is we already know what their warts are.

I don't envy Mara for the situation he's in.

Personally, I'd probably make a push for the Harbaugh/Meyer group and try to move mountains to do so. I have a feeling they're going to go the last route and our next head coach will be one of Rivera, Garrett or McCarthy.

I don't see anything obvious just sitting there though.
