I'm trying to remember if Gallman did anything wrong in the previous weeks to warrant not only being passed over by a scout team RB in Scott, but also not even dress on game day.
Like most, I want to see the ball in Barkley's hands as much as possible, but even last year, I always thought Gallman was a good change of pace type back who complimented Barkley pretty well.
Anyone know the reason why or what Gallman did to not even dress yesterday?
Really? WTF is going on with this team? We can't get Shurmer out of here fast enough.
But the question stands. Barkley was coming off of two of the worst weeks ever in regards to rushing totals and Gallman gets surpassed without even getting playing time.
I am not saying that Gallman is some diamond in the rough, but if Barkley can't run behind this line, what did Gallman do to get surpassed on the depth chart?
Everybody wanted Beal to play and he cost the team the game with that illegal contact penalty.

It's a fair question, my guess is something in practice/meetings...not knowing assignments, and attitude, something like that. Not that it really matters, discussing the 2nd and 3rd RB on this team is like debating between wallpapers on the Titanic.
(I understand that when the game is actually winnable you would want to stay with Saquan last night.)
Unless Gallman stunk up the joint in practice there's no reason he couldn't be the dependable backup to Barkley; a tough runner and could take some of the short yardage hits to save wear on Saquan. (He led major college backs in yards after contact while at Clemson). His blocking seemed to have really improved since he got here and he is a good pass catcher. (The drops may be due to lack of playing time.) He really hasn't gotten sufficient reps and experience.
The Giants need to know what they have in Gallman before next season. And don't tell me Buck is great in the RB room!
Gallman looks to0 slender and runs to upright for my liking, susceptible to a lot of shots.

All true, but don't forget he was one of Reese's draft picks. Probably lucky for him he was not cut from the roster.
