Not sure if you would disclose this early but which pro comparisons do you see from Chase Young (both floor and ceiling)?
What are some of the negatives ?
I realize it’s early in your process, but hoping you had some early information you could share
I watched a lot of his games. He doesn’t get me excited enough to root for losses, which I have done in the past.
He has one move, stop that and you can neutralize him.
However even if that were the case, ya know who did have one move? Osi Umenyiora.. and it was such a deadly move that it made him an elite pass rusher on its own.
Sometimes all it takes is one dominant skill/trait.
PS — BBI is already so invested in the thought of “Chase Young as the savior,” that anyone making any non-glowing remarks will be attacked as a non-believer.
I'd love to watch the remaining OSU games and know what to look for. What kind of questions does this kid still have to answer in reguards his transition to the NFL?
all three of them? lol
FWIW.
Young has fantastic traits to be sure — but factoring in injury risk and how many quality players this team needs, I prefer to trade down. We simply don’t know if Young is K Mack ... or Clowney. Just look through Sy’s scouting reports ... it really points to just what a crapshoot the draft is. Look where he ranked ZaDarius Smith, Danielle Hunter, Matt Judon, Shaq Barrett. And look at all the can’t miss busts ahead of them. We need as many lottery tickets as possible, I think.
I 100% agree with you on that. Maybe they can poach someone from the Ravens front office? It’s almost unbelievable how they keep finding monsters like Matt Judon and Z Smith in the 4th and 5th rounds.
The idea that Chase Young is approaching an LT tier is absurd. His ceiling is probably closer to Umenyiora. His floor is more likely Dion Jordan.

He’ll also come in as a 21 year old who is already famous around the world, with a big entourage. Not his fault he has been living in the hype machine as the next “greatest ever,” but it’s a concern, at least to me. I guess it all depends on what assets they can get back.
How many superstar Chase Young type pass rushers do the Pats and the Ravens have? They have a bunch of no-names who, as soon as they become “names,” they tend not to pay (see Chandler Jones, D Wise, Z Smith etc). You don’t need an LT to be a great defense — you need competence everywhere and depth. Trade down ... and steal someone from a smart front office!
-Better grade than both Bosa brothers (I say that because of OSU connection) and likely better than Myles Garrett. He will be up there with the best DEs I have scouted.
-I don't want to be stuck having to compare him to an NFL player...not yet anyway...but with respect to the question I see some Chandler Jones / Julius Peppers / Bradley Chubb.
- I still need to dive in to his skill set and play to play consistency and variety. From all accounts he is a kid that works hard - practices hard / loves the game. Really important for pass rushers.
How about the first game against Wisconsin? Did you watch that one? When he had 5 TFL, 4 sacks and 2 forced fumbles?

What's even more absurd is you comparing the best ER to come out of the draft in at least 10 years to Osi and Dion Jordan. Nothing like either of them.
BTW nobody is saying he will turn out to be as good as LT. It's a projection to what he could possibly become due to his traits. If you've watched the guy at all you'd see how good he is and see why many think he's a future NFL All-Pro.

Last night's loss doesn't seem so bad all of a sudden

This is so far out there that I suspect you have an axe to grind for some reason.

HAHAHAAH - totally agreed.

Kind of a no brainer, a lights out prospect at a premium position, don't think there's anyone else like that in the draft.
If we don't get him, Edge probably slides because I'm not seeing another blue chip.
Best player in the draft IMO then we resign Golden
to me has been outstanding he has been relentless
in pursuit very good with the pass rush go after
Yannick Ngakoue and with our interior being pretty
stout I feel we will be as good aa anyone up front
Two other spots on defense would be a tackling
machine at LB and a legitimate Free safety .

and I would really look in to drafting the linemen that blocked him. The limited time I watched it, they were impressive and he wasn't.

Exactly.
The Badger coaches were determined not to let that happen again and he was mostly double teamed and sometimes triple teamed this past game. They also went to a lot of quick passes, and three step drops to help keep him from having a similar impact as the first time they played.

If I am wrong, I will say I'm wrong. But I have seen Chase Young play several times. I watched LT's entire career. I don't see the comparison. The draft is historically littered with can't miss prospects that miss.
