in the archives where I have been saying this for years. You have to have a philosophy as an organization...what kind of organization do you want, how do you want to play football. What kind of team are you?
Tom gave us that...we ran the ball, threw the ball downfield and rushed the passer. We had it with BP...in no other eras, have we had that identity. Look at the Steelers...truly our closest comparison. They run a 3-4 and get players that fit that mold. They run the ball and always have good offensive and defensive lines.
We have none of that...we used to be smashmouth and played great D. I believe that's the first step...you have to know who you want to be and what you want to do every Sunday. These are basics, fundamentals and LT nailed it. These Giants haven't a clue who they are.

The Giants got pivoted out of the market as the NFL evolved. You can’t win in the modern NFL the way the Giants won in the 80s. They have to evolve themselves. You can still play good defense, but the offense is more important. Look at the Patriots right now. Their offensive struggles have caught up to them and the defense couldn’t keep pace with the Chiefs high powered offense. It was close in the end, but that’s life in the NFL and it wasn’t really even that close of a game if you watched the entire game.
Carl Banks was on the FAN a short while ago and said Â
"eight years of inept talent acquisition" has made the Giants who they are today.
A lot has gone wrong with this team since their SB victory a decade ago, and it's been a collective failure all around. From management, to coaching, to players. Sad times...

Seattle seems like it has been playing 1980s NFL for decade and are succeeding.
The run more than they pass.
They like big physical corners that can tackle.
Every player they draft is a physical mismatch.
They have an identity.
Why can't we be that?
I think Daniel Jones could thrive in that offense, Barkley too.
It's the Shurmur way. If something works, you abandon it. For instance, Slayton catches 5 passes for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns in the first half. The Shurmur way dictates you do not throw to him in the second half since the other team will have obviously adjusted.
And then on defense there is one constant---never cover the tight end.

I will double check the archives, to make sure you are correct. Then I will shout from the top of Met Life, that you called it first and are the greatest poster in BBI history.
"You can’t win in the modern NFL the way the Giants won in the 80s." Â
The Giants won in the 90s, 2000s and 2010s. If you match a coaching philosophy with the right players to operate it you can win in any era and Belichick and the Pats are good examples.
It seems to me that the Patriots don't have "one philosophy' Â
