Do any of the following deserve/warrant a look?
Please note: this is not an advocacy thread more of a lets avoid group think (Rivera, Rhule, Garret etc) exercise:
1) Matt Eberflus (DC IND)
2) Wink Martindale (DC BAL)
3) Brian Daboll (OC BUF)
4) Dennis Allen (DC NO)
5) Todd Monken (OC CLE)
6) John Fassel (ST LA)
7) Kieth Butler (DC PIT)
8) Eric Bienemy (OC KC)
9) George Edwards (DC MIN)
Thoughts?
Eberflus intrigues me.
For a guy whose name doesn't get mentioned a lot, he oversees one of the NFL's most potent offenses and has done great work with Mahomes.
Wasn't Saleh the DC for them in 2018 when their defense was atrocious? I get that having a player like Bosa is naturally going to elevate everyone else...but I'm not sure I trust Saleh after two seasons of wildly different results.
Good locker room presence. CEO Type. Coached the great Bears Special Teams Units that saw 8 Pro Bowlers, including the record breaking rookie season/bulk of career of Devin Hester.
Before that (from '01-'03)he was helping elevate John Harbaugh's Special teams unit in Philadelphia (Helping Harbaugh to win Sp. Teams Coach of the year in 01).
Former Strength and Conditioning coach and played Center in college
I too like think Eberflus is an interesting coach. The one problem I have with these things is that being a good coach doesn't necessarily translate into being a good Head Coach. That requires being a good manager (both of situations and staff), choosing correct supporting staff, and knowing how to delegate. It is far more than scheme/coaching.
Innovative
TE corps to work with, and Josh Allen is still a work in progress.
I think he needs more seasoning, but will be a serious HC candidate in a couple of years.
I think Caserio likes Daboll a lot. If DG gets canned and we hire Caserio, this may be our guy.
Anyone, SY included, thinking they know whose going to make a good coach is bullshitting you. There’s always some hotshot coordinator that’s the next guy. Shit, spags was one of em.
The truth is most head coaches fail. There are 6-8 openings every year. Just have to hope you get the right guy.
I want a HC with championship experience, or a college coach who has built programs.

same. it seems everyone here wants the flashy young hot coordinator. i want a guy who knows how to run shit.

I am no College savant, so I cant speak to program builders, however, from the NFL, who would that leave you with that qualification?
Todd Bowles, Dennis Allen, Leslie Frazier, Mike Munchak, Mike McCoy, Vance Joseph or other non-inspiring choices (Gus Bradley? Norv? Wade Phillips?).
Does that really excite you?
Knowing who is out there with that criteria does that affect your perspective?
That's about it.
I think going with a proven HC who has a legit winning record like Pagano would be better then first time coaches or others who have had losing experiences as coaches.
I used to think like that, until Doug Pederson had to go and win a Super Bowl. (barf)
