OK. Fair enough. It absolutely does seem as though Shurmur was completely exposed in the second half last night.
I understand no one on BBI will be able to accurately say what was or was not discussed in the NYG locker room at the break, but seriously ... was it something along these lines?
Coaches gathered:
"So that was a great half gentlemen ... what's everyone got?"
:::crickets:::
"OK! Let's just keep doing what we were doing and that should git 'r done! Annnnnnd, break."
Being facetious, of course, but if there WERE adjustments on the Giants' side of things, can anyone who watched the entire game tell me what they may have been? Because it certainly looked like the Eagles went in a regrouped, while the Giants' moms stopped in to hand our orange wedges and tell everyone they were all winners, no matter what happened.
I did notice the Eagles made it a point to run away from L.Williams side..which opened up the running game for them.
That was a well conceived play.
The Giants needed more of those plays in the second half to convert third downs, or at least gain positive yardage.
Every week I see teams running plays, and our plays on the whole look very generic.
And of course when we do a trick play, it's blocked completely wrong and/or called at the wrong time.
Shurmur coaches a lot like his mentor Andy Reid. If it's working from the start, it's awesome...but there's no variation from the install (although years later Reid has seemed to improve there).

Didn't they punt on that drive?
The Eagles had a change of pace runner in Scott.....The Giants have no such thing. The Bears offense hummed when Howard and Tarik Cohen played off each other...Ingram & Kumara......
The Giants need the Sproles type of back to play off Saquon....to take those swing passes and get crucial first downs.
The Giants offense is dreadfully boring!
They have the guy for this already! IT'S BARKLEY!
To my point, that's what wrong with this team. Barkley should be more involved in the pass game....NOT JUST DUMP OFFS.
Swing passes, wheel routs, and crossing patterns.
For crying out loud, we did it last year. This year it's non existent.
I don't get Shurmur.
It's hard to gauge the full scope of the push-pull relationship with TOP, but the common denominator the last 2 years is the defense allows more points in the 2nd and 4th quarters as compared to the first and third. The splits are more glaring in 2018, as the defense has been consistently horrid this year.
Regardless, the team doesn't know how to close out halves and that seems to also correspond to a coaching staff that doesn't know how to adjust.
Reports: "does that work?"
Pat: (pause) "Once in a while"
Just okay is not okay.
I know you're half serious and half sarcastic, but I think this is kind of what goes on. Watching last nights game, I honestly think Shurmur walked into half time and just said to himself "they're going to take away Slayton, so we need to stop going to him" and went from there rather than saying "Slayton is having a great game, they'll probably do X to slow him down, but if we react by doing this we can capitalize on their adjustment".

I did notice several times that Barkley was wide open on some routes but Eli did not see him
Phi has no WR, so Ertz is there only weapon downfield and they refuse to cover him. How many times are you going to blitz the QB when he is not going to throw downfield. The screen & flair pass killed them, time & time again and they refused to change - inexcusable defensive coaching
Carolina seems to figure out how to get their best player touches in multiple situations, this staff cant figure out how to best utilize Barkley
We complained and bitched about Flowers, and justifiably so, but Solders play has been every bit as poor as Flowers, sometimes worse. How do you get TE help on a chip and still get beat
Is it just halftime adjustments, or is there a conditioning factor?
It's hard for me to tell because the coaching sucks.
