What are the biggest moments/wins at MetLife?

Oscar : 12/10/2019 2:27 pm
Thinking about how beaten down this fanbase is, it occurred to me the team really has not had many great moments in the new stadium. Very few moments to go crazy over. Even the 2011 Super Bowl run was mostly on the road, the one game against Atlanta at home is probably the best we’ve had at home since MetLife opened.

Here’s what came to mind for me:

- Playoff win over Atlanta, 2011 season
- Odell Beckham catch against Dallas, 2014 I think? I don’t even know if they won that game.

- Victor Cruz 99 yards and the win over the Jets. Although this was actually a Jets home game.

I think the defining game at MetLife so far was the 2010 DeSean Jackson loss. That comes to mind first unfortunately.
The week before that Atlanta game

The Sunday Night football "win and in" against the Cowboys was a good one. The stadium was rocking that night.
In MetLife there are 3 games that come to mind

all in a row.

Dec 24th 2011 @ Jets

Jan 1st 2012 clinch division knocking off Cowboys

Jan 8th 2012 WC win over Atlanta
I'm hesitant to call any other game there

a "defining" game.

Definitely not Beckham's catch in a losing effort.

Maybe the Dallas Sunday night against Dallas in 2016 that at least helped clinch a convincing WC birth at 11-5.

One thing is for certain. Since MetLife opened, there have been a lot more forgettable moments then memorable ones.
The place is so generic

That when you watch on TV there is never the feeling of a home game.
we just haven't been a good team during most of this span...

...the 2011 dates are obvious. Great wins.

The other game that for whatever reason comes to mind is the catch by Larry Donnell on SNF versus San Fran.........seconds remaining and a great catch.

But really...other than that, there hasn't been much. We've been spinning our wheels.

the Wild Card game in 2011...

ummm... the Cowboy division clincher in 2011...

Let's see...no, they lost that one...and wait...no lost that one too.

the 3 mentioned are the obvious ones...
Drewcon40 : 12/10/2019 3:03 pm : link
..I'll add a game but this feels like just throwing something different out there.

My son's first Giants game was the game against Tampa Bay in 2012

We scored 25 points in the 4th quarter. Mark Barron's uncle was sitting in front of us and was such a gentleman.

Spot on.
One of my favorite Giants plays ever.

is the Atlanta playoff game in 2011. To not only win the game, but win so convincingly (24-2) was fun and special. I mean, the Giants defense didn't give up any points. Think about that. Certainly a far cry from today's Giants defense. Crowd was loud as hell for that game all day long, too.

After that, it's really only the Cruz 99 yard TD run. And that game was actually a Jets home game.
I think the Matt Dodge game

was a big moment for all the wrong reasons
They all came in 2011.
truebluelarry : 12/10/2019 3:12 pm : link
The game against the Jets (which was a Jets home game) with the Manning-to-Cruz 99 yard TD pass.
The regular season finale against Dallas.
Tee Wild Card win against Atlanta.

Don't even mention that overrated Beckham catch. The Giants lost that game, therefore, it meant nothing. Its just a fancy highlight lacking any substance.

This was a good one. While that 2016 team was obviously flawed and a bit fraudulent, it was a helluva lot better than what's followed since then. That was a really big win that night, probably the last win we've gotten that truly mattered
2 plays stood out in the SNF win over the Cowboys

the TD to Cruz down the sideline

and when Eli selflessly jumped on that fumble

It was like you knew something special was happening

...spacious, artsy urinals with actual DIVIDERS, with a TeeVee showing the game in the bathroom, I wept with delight.

THIS was the highlight of my MetLife experiences - I've gone to 3 games since they knocked down the house that LT built.

Such luxury - and for only 350% more than I paid for the accommodations during the Parcells era.

What they've done to this franchise and it's fanbase is unforgivable.

I think the 2016 game against a Dallas team that I think was 11-1 (I might be off on this). I'm pretty sure it was a Sunday Night Game.

We won the game 10-7 and played great defense.

The most complete game within the TunaCan. Comments spot on how every game seems like an away game.
You could throw in the comeback on SNF in 2015 against SF

Shit season but it was really Eli's last captain comeback moment that didn't involve a slant to OBJ
The OBJ catch vs Dallas
BH28 : 12/11/2019 2:17 am : link
Is definitely a defining moment.

Yeah we lost the game, but nobody really cares because that play basically overshadowed the game. It's a play you'll see on TV for years.

It was also the play that catapulted OBJ to the main stage.

I was at that game and it's a truly amazing play/moment when you are talking about that particular play for days after the event and it's getting more press than the Giants blowing another game
Manning vs Fitzpatrick, 2011 Week 6
shyster : 12/11/2019 7:12 am : link
Bills came in 4-1. Giants were 3-2 after a brutal home loss the week before to a pretty bad Seahawks team.

Back and forth game, Giants pull it out 27-24, one of the essential pieces to the eventual SB payoff.

Few days from now, Manning-Fitzpatrick once more. There is a saying that, when history repeats, it does so as farce.
