I didn't realize this until I was just perusing the Twitter, but he's got an opt-out after 2021 which I suppose makes the valuation a bit more tricky.

it comes from the beat writers who presumably get their information from actual sources.

so regardless if all the fans on here agree Nimmo to Marte isn't necessarily an upgrade and not worth the cost, the talk isn't starting from here.

Fans underestimate the impact that they have in this social media age. Multiple reliable sources indicated that McNeil was pulled out of the Cano/Diaz deal after fan reaction. Isles fans took out a series of billboards calling for the ouster of Garth Snow. He was fired months later and the Isles no longer are a joke.

Make yourselves heard folks. Also, might as well make yourselves heard that Gettleman has to go as well.

I'm not suggesting fans shouldn't make their voices heard, but BVW laughed when asked about McNeil in the Cano trade and said he was never in it and his explanation seemed plausible. As plausible as the information from "reliable sources" at least.

but given that he acquired Lowrie and Cano last offseason, I think it's likely he thought McNeil was expendable.

hurt a lot, but he's a reasonable gamble that has some upside.

Ideally, you'd have 3-4 guys like him and hope that at least one of them can emerge as a good option. Signing him and closing up shop on the rotation wouldn't be great. Let's hope there's more to come.

Pretty much. He was so bad in 2019 that he'd be a repeat performance from being out of baseball. Underlying numbers aren't great either.

2015 & 17 look like the outliers. '13, '14, '16 he seems to have been around the same 93 mph he was the past 2 years (career average is 93.8). I dislike this signing because he's had 2 crappy, injury plagued years - but whether that's because of a velo drop is unclear.

Sources say Mets have had dialogue with the Astros about Carlos Correa. Nothing imminent.

I have zero confidence BVW will get another one over on them, but I could see something like Rosario + Nimmo + prospect appealing to them. Who knows what they're looking for, but I'd imagine the start of any deal would have to be a young SS with control like Rosario and then +++ from there.

is a better fit than Correa as far as big trade candidates go because 3B and in theory a salary dump.

In an Arenado trade the Mets "extra" pieces like JD Davis and Dom Smith could be valuable where neither is likely interesting to the Astros (with the Astros obviously trade Davis to the Mets).

do this? What kind of return could they get for Lowrie if they pay his salary?

If OAK has a solid reliever it would be the same as paying $10M for a reliever.

Texas and Oakland two teams who have talked Jed Lowrie with Mets per sources. @susanslusser
said Oakland first. A’s would only take Lowrie if Mets pay most of the money, I’m told.
