the 3rd round pick we are sending to the Jets, could this possible turn into the (expected/potential) third round comp pick from Collins? Not sure how the NFL rules would address this, and of course I don't know the specific terms of the trade, but knowing comp picks can now be traded makes it interesting. Just curious
Of course, this is all contingent upon us finally getting the Saints' first round pick......
Yeah, I figured that's the most likely scenario ( unfortunately ), but I also haven't seen anything confirming it specifically either.
Understood, but it was specified for the BJ Goodson trade. And from the Jets perspective, getting "any" third rounder this year would be better than getting nothing after Williams walks.
This. At the time of the trade, there were no comp picks awarded. Can't trade on speculation. The trade is for our original 3rd round pick.
And you know this how? Not saying it isn’t true but I don’t remember anything like this said at the time if the trade.
No.. We couldn't have traded away a pick we were given already.. so the only 3rd round pick we had was our own.. We are giving away the 1st or the 2nd pick in the 3rd round for a guy who hasn't sacked anyone in 23+ games..
Most likely not, and perhaps even asking the question is pedantry, but I think it's reasonable to have the thought. Would be nice to hear if somehow the language in the trade allowed for the Giants to send "a 2019 third round pick" as opposed to their normal slotted 2019 third round pick.
Moreover I heard that DG had his fingers crossed behind his back when he made the deal so TECHNICALLY we don't even have to give them anything if we don't want to.
LOL Jets.....Suckers!!!!!
I agree with you in principle about the trade not having been for a comp pick we have yet to be awarded, but nobody knows what number pick we will have in the third round, so NYJ couldn't have possibly specified the exact pick number.

Sorry, didn't see any threads with this subject/question so not sure where this was asked "every week". Again, its probably not happening, but I don't see how its entirely far-fetched since I'm quite sure very few people have seen the actual trade terms, and they're probably not posting on BBI ( at least about this ).
And hey I wouldn't mind this as a sticky question.
