Olgetree on Joe and Evan yesterday said two things that were pretty damming. Full disclosure I heard the 15 second clip on Boomer and Gio this morning so I do not have the context, but:
“We were doing things we hadn’t practice” and regarding the Ertz catch in OT, we weren’t prepared.
Pretty bold regardless of context.
I gotta call some level of bull shit on this.
Well, yeah, because Ertz was lined up at WR because everyone who had a pulse was out with injury. The excuse making has to stop. A professional player shouldn't have to be told to recognize the opponents only weapon. Ertz runs a lumbering 4.79 40, yet he is running free in the secondary the entire second half. Ogletree and the entire secondary should be embarrassed.
Thanks Dave.
Thanks Dave.
Men of integrity. This Daniel Jones fella needs to protect the Duke too...
Ogletree is using the narrative that people want to believe... failure is all on the coaching staff. Don't look at the stupid penalties, blown coverages and mental errors made by players on the field. Don't look at the two times that Ogletree had a clear shot a Wentz and couldn't even lay a hand on him... they never practiced tackling Carson Wentz.

That are easy to root for.

I think it s just proud accomplishment athletes who are embarrassed and tired of the losing. I don’t believe it s a lack of taking responsibility but who knows what s going on in those meetings during the week getting ready for the game.
This is a lost season it s normal to go into self preservation mode.
To which Ogletree replied about it being a different formation than they'd seen before
Which is insane. It's football...you figure out where the best player is and cover him.
Ogletree sounded like a beaten man. I give him credit for still doing the interviews, when there clearly aren't any answers. Other than to just admit they suck.

Some of that is on the guys up front. That one play where Ertz was wide open on the sideline Wentz bought like 8 seconds. Of course someone is gonna get that open.
And yes Olgetree obviously needs to go, but him sending this message to John may alone be worth his salary. Crank up the noise and get these coaches out of here.
Yes, it is not rocket science. Ertz has killed us for years just like Witten. It is like we have no clue how good they are or what they are capable of. Between the deep seem pass and the 2 TD's Ertz was the difference in that game. Scheme to make somebody else beat you. This is on the DC, that said Ogletree is not a good LB.
But you have to be one dumb fucking moron player with no football intellect to not cover the only legit receiver. Even in sandlot football the kids know to cover the best guy.
They had two timeouts, I believe. Either the coaching staff or a player on the field could have called a TO if they were looking at a formation they never saw before with the GAME on the line!
Oh, that presumes a competent coaching staff that properly prepares the players. Something we haven't had in a long time.
I'm less than a football player, but I knew for sure that they would go to Ertz and eh would catch the TD pass as soon as the referees said the Eagles would receive in OT.
This guy is complete shit.. one of the worst trades ever made..
He and Thomas stood there like fucking idiots
At some point, when you see the same stupid shit happening again and again, it has to fall on the coaches.
And i'm calling bullshit that is a formation he's never seen before. How long has the fucking guy been playing football? So if he never saw it before what was the signal he was making to Thomas? Was that the stand there and do nothing call? Fuck him, and fuck the coaches
But
It seems like a lot, and I mean A LOT of the mistakes and bad play of the defense are on the veterans. Ogletree / Bethea / etc etc...
Nothing that getting rid of these overpriced and under-performing veterans and a new coaching staff can't fix. Please?

Even though he had no idea what he was doing, instead of covering the one guy everyone in the stadium knew he was going to throw to, he decided to....not cover anyone?

You could kind of understand it if it was some really off the wall shit, like the crazy formations that the Ravens and Patriots have trotted out at times.
In this particular case, with the Patriots getting ready to run McCown out there at WR due to injuries and a fairly vanilla formation, the excuse machine has to work overtime to exonerate them.
Hilarious!
"years in the NFL , positional technique specificity and achievements".
Couple that with 4 rookie defensive backs.
On offense, this Macadoo version of the wco is simply dumb as fuck in that it totally fails to use O line run action to leverage pass protection outcomes.
This is it. He's the captain of the defense. The Eagles had just used a timeout. If it's a new formation call a darn timeout and figure out what to do. My goodness.
Lol. Ray Charles is a better LB than Ogletree
It looks like the only thing that changed is our complainers have less talent now
Or, at the goal, game on the line in OT, you see a formation that’s so dreadfully confusing, be a team captain and call time freaking out so you don’t - I don’t know - let the obvious target go uncovered for the game winner?
Or maybe he’s smart enough to want Chase on the DL.
Good coaches ensure their team is prepared, like Coughlin and his staff did. They always stressed being prepared.
Week 14 and they should be able to apply any concept to any formation and at least get hats on hats. Jesus, even if they don't know what they are doing do something 100% other than stand there confused.
If Ogletree was sitting in the Eagle's huddle on both calls the outcome would have been the same.
Lord, please give us some linebackers...
I will NEVER understand how he can be left UNCOVERED in that situation.
It's gross negligence by both the coaches and players.
They make millions of dollars to supply us, the passionate fans, with an enjoyable experience for our entertainment dollars. We bleed blue with this team.
This can only happen if the people involved are literally incompetent or don't give a shit. Or both. You decide which it is.
The latter gaffe are grounds for termination when you look at the total picture of Gettleman's job with the Giants.
