120th Army-Navy Game on Saturday, Dec 14

RC in MD : 12/11/2019 10:30 am
Navy finds itself in an unfamiliar territory this year with having lost three in a row to Army after winning 14 straight (longest streak in the history of the rivalry) from 2002 to 2015. With a bounce back season for Navy (currently ranked #23 with a 9-2 record) and a chance to win the Commander-in-Chief Trophy, it's poised to break the losing streak, especially since Army hasn't been as strong this season (5-7 record) having gone through several QBs through the season.

It's considered one of the greatest sports and institutional rivalry, and in recent years, the play of the teams have gotten better despite them running the antiquated Triple Option offense (which I actually love watching). Also, the annual tradition of unveiling the game uniform by both teams didn't disappoint. Both teams did a masterful job on their unique take on what they want to represent:

I will be sitting at home recovering from a little procedure this year, but it should be an awesome game.

Go Navy! Beat Army!

Army took a step back this year but they've been fun to watch

the last few years. On the local cable channel sports in the Hudson Valley, Army is the #1 story most of the time - about equal to the Yankees/Mets and above the Giants/Jets - so I get to see a lot about them. Since they're now sort of a home team for me - and also in memory of my Dad - go Army.
I'm a Navy guy and I took them laying 10, I think this is the first

time in a while this game is going to be a blowout. Too many factors in their favor including revenge from last year.
Down year for Army

Which was unexpected. Still, anything can happen in this game. Go Army.
Side note anyone in Tampa Bay know a good spot to watch this

Navy is hard to gauge...

They definitely have the ability to put up some points as they've shown this season, and while American isn't a powerhouse conference, it does have some good teams. Other than the loss the Memphis, Navy did very well in the conference. Then you have the blowout game against Notre Dame, which is good but not great team this season.

This game should be pretty one sided, but we know that the records go out the window when these two teams are on the field together.
Putting things into perspective...

This year's iteration of the Navy uniform has space for a patch on the front side of the left shoulder. There, players can choose to honor the naval divisions of their fathers or brothers or a former teammate. Some units have given a player a patch and asked him to wear it.

Nizaire Cromartie, a senior captain and linebacker, will be wearing a NASC Pensacola Memorial Patch in honor of Joshua Kaleb Watson, one of the three victims at last week's naval base shooting in Pensacola, Florida. Watson graduated from the Naval Academy in 2019.

Usually. But once every few years they will switch it up. We went once when it was at Ravens Stadium. Next year they will play at Met Life.
Sorry, not next year

I'm supposed to root for Navy, I suppose

But I usually just pull for the underdog, which is generally Army.

You damn traitor. You should be thinking about all of the Naval Academy grad Marines you hated over the years and cheer for the institution that fucked them over for four years!
Game day today!

Where seniors on Army, Navy football teams are headed after graduation (Hint: It's not the NFL)

Malcom Perry, the star Navy QB, will become a Marine officer along with 12 of his senior classmates. Hoorah!

Go America!
Couple of favorable spots,
section125 : 12/14/2019 3:42 pm : link
but a great drive and a fantastic job by the 3rd string QB....
11 Bravo for 4 years and 19 Kilo for 2
Diver_Down : 12/14/2019 3:45 pm : link
so Go Army!
Malcolm Perry is
section125 : 12/14/2019 5:20 pm : link
crazy quick and fast. Probably too small for NFL.
And that was that...

The Navy seniors finally get a win to save their football career from being swept by Army.
Perry is amazing.
Maryland Giant : 12/14/2019 8:31 pm : link
They totally eschewed the triple option and went read option and put it on his shoulders.

Got it done.

My kid sat five seats away from the President for a good part of the 3rd quarter which will be memorable.

Bittersweet. Four years flies the F by.
