It's for sale. I found the linked story about the auction process interesting. Among the interesting (to me) facts - the owner's father bought the Mustang for $3,500 in 1974, and it was actually used as the family car from 1974 to 1980. Then, it sat in the family's garage until now, still in very original condition. Expected to go in the $3M - $5M range at auction.
I was 16 when 'Bullitt' came out and that car chase scene blew everyone away. It was the progenitor of the whole genre leading up to 'Fast and Furious' these days.

Three each of the Mustang and the Charger, according to Loren Janes, who drove the Mustang in most of the chase scenes (McQueen only drive a few of them).
The interesting thing about that chase scene is that the Mustangs couldn't really hang with the Charger R/Ts. Bill Hickman, who was driving the Charger, said he had to keep slowing down to let the Mustang keep up.
That is awesome..
Speaking of cars from a movie that I would like to have, I want Stallones car from the movie Cobra.

several Mustangs in the making of that movie?

I’m not surprised at this ... MOPAR engines in the late 60s and early 70s were the best. The Challenger in ‘Vanishing Point’ was the really cool car.
Yes it did
The Bullitt scene is iconic, but I think my favorite is actually The Seven Ups. The reaction shots of the passenger in the bad guys' car were not acting - Hickman was trying to (and succeeding) scare the hell out of him.

funny you should mention The Seven Ups - that's my favorite too, for a different reason - I was driving those same roads in those days (living on the UWS) so that part was closer to home than 'Bullitt'. But there's a mistake in The Seven Ups - they clearly go over the GW Bridge and up the Palisades Parkway, yet when Scheider forces them off onto an exit, the exit sign says 'Millwood - Briarcliff Manor' - which is an exit on the other side of the Hudson, on the Taconic Parkway.

BS. Pre 1967 the Mustang was a re-skinned Falcon. 67 and 68 was the same frame (uni) and chassis. Both years you could get 390s and 428s
