One the biggest reasons to fire Shurmur (and eventually gettleman) is the recognition by the league that the Giants are in trouble and who wants to play for a dumpster fire organization. That is in my opinion the biggest reason to change guards NOW. We need our credibility back as a flagship NFL franchise. The obvious choice would be Belichick, but while I think its totally plausible, I just don't see it as likely. So after that--who brings the most credibility?
Rivera
Garrett
Rhule
McDaniels
McCarthy
Saleh
Riley
Harbaugh
Shaw
Who doesn't love that nostalgic feel of high school?
No I don't, not like the video that was posted the other day...

You don't think Tomlin yells at halftime? Or BB?

I've been in a few halftime.lockerrooms most coaches yell at halftime. Youre nuts if you don't think Tomlin n BB yell....
I agree with you. I think money is the deciding factor for players who know that they don't have many games left in the tank.
I think you’re looking at:
Rivera
Matt Rhule ( has league and college ties, but it’s really hard to predict what kind of staff he would assemble. )
McDaniels (but I doubt he comes here if Gettleman is still here)
Harbaugh (not that I believe he is leaving Michigan)
Jay Gruden (known commodity in the league and is well connected)
Mike McCarthy (I’m not a fan)
I’m really surprised no one here has been talking about Dan Campbell. Former Giant and now an assistant under Sean Payton. Certainly worth a look.

Yes, why not Campbell? He did a good job in a handful of games for Mimi. And Jay Gruden should be able to assemble a quality staff.
Not very often at all you're gonna have a team offering 5m a year more than the next closest team for a sought after player.
If it came down to nothing but money the scrub teams with 100m in cap would absolutely clean up every year.
Perennially chasing a lot of Free Agents makes you a loser. You can sign one or two to fill key holes but that's about it. Otherwise you end up with a team of over-paid under-performers because the best guys never hit Free Agency.
These guys make so much and day to day life in the NFL is brutal, situation matters a lot.
