A Guy We Should Be Looking At is Joe Brady

Giants38 : 12/12/2019 12:30 am
Not as head coach, but as OC. He has NFL experience with the Saints, and the turnaround he had initiated for that LSU offense is remarkable. Yes, I understand that college is different the NFL, and I am well aware that he has high level NFL caliber players at just about every position, but no one here can credibly deny the terrific job he has done working with Burrow and the LSU players. He'd be a great fit here as our new OC (obviously we need to get a new head coach here first).

I think a combination of Matt Rhule as HC and Joe Brady as OC would be a coup for this organization.
LSU is back mostly because of Burrow. Hard to judge Brady in that

You're kidding, right?

Burrow played in 2018. Put up okay numbers.

Brady came in this year from the Saints. And then LSU took off. Sorry, but that's not a coincidence.

And to the OP, I've been mentioning Brady's name for a month. He should be in contention for OC and HC positions. He's obviously learned very well under Payton.
Um, the HC should pick his staff not have assistants

forced on him.
I agree college is different than the NFL.

And I also agree that a new head coach should pick his offensive coordinator.

With that in mind, Rhule and Brady would be pretty awesome. Brady tailor made that offense for Burrow, and I think Burrow and Jones have a pretty similar skill set. Brady has been more than impressive. It would be nice to have that kind of ability on the coaching staff for once.

Unfortunately, I don’t think it is realistic. Brady isn’t going anywhere, unless it is the head coach of a program. He’s received national recognition and accolades, and his stock his way up. The hierarchy of this organization is petrified of a risk or a challenge, and Brady is just that.
Let me see him be the OC

Where he doesn’t have 5 star recruits at every position. Lsu has always had the best talent along with bama Clemson etc. they kept missing on the qb. They finally got one and now the offense took off. Let’s ease up on the brilliance of their coaches for a second. What Matt rhule is doing is remarkable. Not what the OC of the lsu tigers is doing

And many of the teams LSU played this year - Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Texas, Georgia - have 5 and 4 star recruits at every position.

I don't disagree on the quality of their players but I think you're way off on their OC.

We've all seen what bad coaching/schemes look like here with the Giants and Brady is at the opposite end of that. He's taken the same type of LSU offensive team as far as players go and brought it out of the dark ages to be as well run and exciting as any O in football.

I also agree with you on Rhule but let's not diminish the great job Joe Brady has done. Without him I don't think they're nearly as good an O as they are, even with a talented QB and skill position players. He's put in a system that puts them all in position to succeed, and that's what really good coaches do.

This Is the Kind of Out of the Box Thinking

the Giants organization needs. I used to believe that college coaches would have a very hard time succeeding in the NFL because of how different the games were played. Now however, with the style of football converging more than ever, guys who have been successful in college will be so in the NFL. Plus both Rhule and Brady have been in the NFL, so the environment would not be completely foreign to them. I'm all for it!
I would take

Marcia Brady if it means getting rid of the current regime. The growing pains of a first time head coach may not be what we need to turn this thing around.

I can confirm that for the last 10 years we've been running a bastardized version of the spread offense and RPO with non-athletic quarterbacks, while the WR, and RBs who have elite talent have been reduced to running bubble screens and HB dives.

The job Brady has done is nothing short of a miracle. I'd be on board of hiring him for the Giants.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner. If you choose a HC, he builds the staff. OC and DC need to fit what the HC's vision is.
You don't get an OC 1st then the HC.

It really is an unbelievable transformation. The Tigers went from a cure for insomnia to an absolute offensive juggernaut.

And it’s 100% Joe Brady.
All the degen gamblers I know (including myself) were all over LSU

because of Joe Brady Until the public came around after the Bama game. I'd be all about him, but fat chance of that happening.
Isn't Brady like 25?
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 12/12/2019 11:03 am : link
I'm somewhat kidding, but I think he's ridiculous young even by the Kyle Shanahan/Sean McVay standard.
He basically installed the Saints offense
BSIMatt : 12/12/2019 10:09 pm : link
And how LSU used Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the pass game is almost identical to how Kamara is used in New Orleans and how Barkley ought to be used with the Giants.
