necessary with the hicks injury, otherwise, they may have let him go.
still a few questions for the yanks. who is the everyday 1B? what happens to Happ? Andujar? Frazier?
all good questions that should become clearer as the season nears.
I am sure we are all still on cloud 9 about the cole news.

Hicks they should trade as soon as they can, not sure why they ever gave him that contract in the first place.
Frazier, try to train him to play CF. If he cant he's the 4th OF who can be worked in plenty, particularly in left.
Andujar needs to stay no matter what. We dont know if Urshela will be able to repeat what he did last year, but either way train Andujar to play some 1st base and maybe he and Voit can platoon it.
This team is friggin loaded. There's not even a need to trade Andujar or Frazier, we have no needs.
I find it hard to believe that there were teams willing to pay him north of $10M.
.
It's actually 10M, with a 2.5 mill. buyout.
There is a 2nd year team option, if the Yanks don't pick that up, he then gets 2.5. I think that is fair for both parties, need him more now than last offseson, with the
Hicks situation.
I find it hard to believe that there were teams willing to pay him north of $10M.
It was an overpay to keep it to 1 year, I'd bet.
I expected $10-12. He is well worth it. He won't hit 28 HRs again as the ball is likely back to normal. But he still plays a stellar OF. One more year in the locker room now that CC is gone. He and Judge will rule the roost.

That's a nice hedge... $10 m is fair for both. The team option is great just in case of more injuries and allows him a nice retirement nest egg...
184 plate appearances, slash line of .196/.260/.252. Probably one of the worst in MLB history for a player with that number of PAs.
And the stat that stands out is 48 strikeouts and only 13 walks in those 184 appearances. That's not hitting in bad luck; that's his approach not working.
2019 postseason was in line with career: .175/.263/.265 in 38 PAs.
And 15 strikeouts and only 3 walks in nine games.
Count on him being in the lineup in October. Cashman wants to get him a ring and wants him on the field for it.
I was hoping for a Dellin return. Perhaps just Cashman putting pressure on the Betances camp. Though, Cashman has been good at bringing in good relievers in their prime.

Dellin's no kid - he'll turn 32 next spring and he's coming off of two serious injuries. Hader will be 26 and has been dominant. I'll understand why they might go that route, but it would suck if they won and the big fella wasn't around for it.
Adding Hader to the pen they already have is absurd Â
We've got a ton of young talented arms in the upper and lower minors....I'm confident we can continue to re-fill our pen at an elite level from within. I'd rather keep our prospects or use them to fill any needs that arise throughout the season.
When he's on he is unhittable, but when he doesn't have his control he walks batters and then can't hold them on because of his delivery. So when he walks a guy it's like he walks them all the way to second base. It also makes it less than ideal to bring him in with a runner on first.
But like I said, when he's on, he is absolutely unhittable.
well, he didn't establish himself in MLB until he was 26 Â
He spent a long time in the minors because they didn't want to put him in the pen. He showed tantalizing stretches of dominant starting - particularly a dynamite 2010 in Tampa when he made 14 starts as a 22 year old, 1.77 ERA, 71 IP, 43 H, 88 K, 19 BB - but ultimately just could never develop the consistency.
Garcia, Abreu and King for Hader? Is that too much? Â
but I hate paying all this money to Gardy, Hicks, and even Stanton. I don't want to pay big money to Sanchez either.
Gardy for 1 year is not a problem. Hicks is a bit fragile, so that is a quandry for such a long deal(6 years left IIRC), but $10m is not awful. Stanton, if he is healthy is a beast.
I know what you are saying, I could do without Stanton's $$, but nothing we can do now.
RE: Garcia, Abreu and King for Hader? Is that too much? Â
The Brewers may have interest in Happ, so he could be included in a package that helps the Brewers fill out their weak minor league system. I was suggesting Frazier, Green, Garcia, and Florial on another thread, but maybe Happ, Frazier, Garcia, and Florial gets it done (with perhaps the Yankees to taking on some of Happ's $17M). Part of me thinks the Brewers will want a decent reliever to replace Hader (along with prospects) so that's where I think Green and maybe Kahnle fit in. So basically some combination of Happ, Frazier, Florial, Garcia, Green, and Kahnle gets it done. Hard to imagine they get it done without including Garcia, but to be perfectly honest, I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about!
Milton, all due respect but I’m glad you’re not our GM. Â

Why would you trade all that for a guy that would be the 4th guy in the pen? Chapman, Britton, Ottavino, Kahnle and Green are all still there. Where does he slot? Ahead of Kahnle? Certainly not ahead of Britton or Ottavino and probably not Green either.
You are not giving up 4 solid pieces for the 6th inning guy.
The New York Giants could use a few (make that several) Brett Gardners. At least, then, we would know we were rooting for real men who actually care about winning.

I think there's a good chance of some heavy regression for him this year based on his age.

He and Cole need to be added...there will be some DFAs.
Wow. Is his brother still in Detroit?
Does his brother still play for the Tigers too?

Nope...
Ok looks like 1 year 4.1 mill.

Shouldve brought him back for that.
Apparently were pursuing a trade for Josh Hader, dont like it. Would rather just resign Dellin.
Link - ( New Window )
If that happens it would mean Dellin is a goner. I would be sad.

Frazier in CF? Come on
It's because he'd been in the system forever. Was one of the touted killer B's with Brackman and Banuelos.
But like I said, when he's on, he is absolutely unhittable.
Martin Maldonado, come on down
