After being demoted by his KHL team, Kravtsov is coming back to North America. Hopefully things work out better than they did this fall. lonk - ( New Window )
Hartford isn't the black hole it was a few years ago. Good things are happening there. We'll see how he does, but he just needs to get his head straight and build his confidence back up. He's got the talent.
that Traktor Chelyabinsk is an absolute garbage fire right now. Worst team in the KHL by a mile, their fans (particularly the ultras) boycotting the games on account of the ownerships practice of giving out free tix and in turn complaining they dont have cash to either acquire new players or pay their existing players on time, and some ties to a local governor who is being investigated for embezzlement and fraud.
Him going back there was perhaps a mistake on his part, and the Rangers probably earned some goodwill with his camp with their flexibility, but getting him out of that environment is absolutely beneficial for his development

Hartford CT is not my favorite town by a long shot, but I just looked at a map to see where Chelyabinsk is - holy crap! Talk about the middle of nowhere. It's practically in Kazakhstan. Even leaving hockey aside, I'd think anyone would rather be in Hartford than Chelyabinsk.
Is Andersson really that close to being a total write off?
I'm holding out hope, but everyone seems so down on him. I don't follow prospects as closely -- can someone expound a little bit on this? Has he really shown nothing at all?

Rangers had no choice. He had a European Assignment Clause in his contract that could be enacted unilaterally by him. And it was.
The Rangers were publicly supportive of the decision, which may have earned goodwill, who knows, but they did not have any say.
Fact is, aside from Lias we really don't have any emergency F depth to call upon in case of a rash of injuries. We've seen over the last year or so the recently-waived Micheal Haley (who is still inexplicably on the team), Boo Nieves, Vinni Lettieri, Tim Gettinger, Greg McKegg, Stephen Fogarty...all get call-ups. McKegg is fine, but the rest blow. Kravtsov has a legit shot at being called up to New York this season. He just needs to be patient.
Enjoy Hartford, Vitaly. You'll be with Rykov and Igor and soon you guys will be in MSG. Just have some patience.

He's decent defensively, but he's a complete black hole offensively. He's basically the hockey version of Ntilikina.
Rumors were parents and advice he got were extremely bad
He was a stud on every level and didn't ever face adversity or struggle. When he did he didn't know how to deal with it further compounded by getting bad advice from inner circle telling him to return to Russia rather than continue to develop in AHL.
Rangers apparently understand this and are still very high on him. Stay tuned.
Is centering the second line with Fogarty on left wing, he is also the captain and having a very good season, Andersson scored 3 points against the Devils a few nights back, maybe this will get him going.
for diving into the firestorm and persuading a change in direction; seems like getting some distance between Kravtsov and his 'advisors' will be a good thing. Andersson is a work in process, so too Kravtsov. There's no rush, plenty of time while they sort out lines and ice time at MSG as the season wears on. Let's see how it plays out. Spring in the standings likely to look far different than they do now.
Del, one man's Paradise is another's Kazakhstan, one man's Hartford is another's Inferno. Did you ever play Diplomacy?
just turned 21. He's scored four goals in the last seven games at Hartford. Mittelstadt has a whopping nine points in 31 games for Buffalo and was recently benched.

Who have his linemates been? They throw him out there with the refuse of the NHL and then are shocked when he doesn't produce points? This goes back to Quinn's terrible personnel choices.
I'm stunned that Andersson struggled when centering the likes of Cody McLeod, Michael Haley and Brendan Smith.
this is the best thing that could have happened for Kravtsov
A couple of months in some Russian backwater being treated like shit should help him set his priorities straight. He'll listen to the Rangers now and his development should come along nicely. He's still a teenager so people shouldn't overreact to this speedbump in his career.

sucks. I knew we should have picked Mittelstadt with that pick. I think they panicked when they missed out on Pettersson and Glass.
Is Mittelstadt even that good? In hindsight, we probably should've taken Necas. [/quote
Is he that good? No. Is he at least a competent NHL 3rd or 4th liner? Probably.
Not sure Andersson is even a fourth liner at this point. I'd trade him for Pool Party if we can.
Necas is the pick in hindsight. They were going to pick a center that year after trading away Stephan. And Mittelstadt and Andersson were the centers that were supposed to be picked in the 5-10 range.

But Lias is averaging the exact same .55 points per game this year that he did last year.
So, statistically, there has been no improvement.
So far,he has not lived up to the billing of a guy drafted seven. I went and checked three mocks for that draft: they had him going 14, 15, and 21. One guy had him going to the Rangers but at 21, not 7.
I think he still has some upside, but if a redraft were held, nobody would take him at 7.
Chytil, OTOH, was exactly the right pick. He has more points than anyone drafted after him.
I did like the Kravtsov pick
But so far, neither guy has emerged. Lias is close to being a bust and while it is too early to make a call on Kravtsov, he has really had a bad year.

Yea Lisa is a future 1C. Thanks for letting us know Lias will be good as Mark Scheifele.
