Chase Young comparisons

jeff57 : 12/13/2019 5:40 am
AFC general manager: "Interesting question. Young is in the Khalil Mack/Von Miller category. Young is not as strong or powerful as Garrett, Clowney or Joey Bosa."

NFC general manager: "He's similar to Garrett and Clowney; Young has more twitch than Clowney."

AFC director of pro personnel: "He's a cross between Joey Bosa and Clowney. Young has more power than Von [Miller] and Garrett in my opinion."

AFC director of college scouting: "His skill set is a notch below Clowney and Garrett, but ahead of Chubb and the Bosa brothers"

AFC director of college scouting: "Young is dynamic, they all were, but he's not like Garrett or Clowney coming out."

AFC director of college scouting: "I would say his comp is Julius Peppers, not those guys."

AFC area scout: "I would put him ahead of the Bosa brothers for sure. I have a hard time saying who's better between Young and Chubb."

AFC national scout: "Chase Young is the best, better than all of them."

NFC national scout: "Young does not have the skill set of Clowney or Garrett, but he's more talented than the Bosa brothers and Bradley Chubb. Young is big and looks the part in person."

when these scouts talk about skill sets.

Do they even remember that Clowney had far lower actual production in college than the Bosa's/ Garrett/ Chase Young?

Clowney was all straight-line power. Young has speed around the edge, strength to power, and when he's not triple teamed he can go inside.

the Bosa's were supremely technical with lots of actual pass rush moves and counter moves. Garrett had more finesse in college iirc.

I think the von/mack comps fit better because of his FFs and strips.

Skillset doesn't mean production. Yes, what you say is correct in terms of having a repertoire on the field but when you say skill set more often than not people are talking about the physical traits to work with not necessarily the technique and production part of it.
That is funny

I would take the Bosa brothers out of all those guys they mentioned.
comparisons
lightemup : 12/13/2019 7:15 am : link
in scouting are stupid for someone like chase young. Whats the point? We all know he's on those guys level. This scout is comparing college production to these guys in the NFL, not when they were in college

Chase Young was better than all those guys when they were in college, outside of Nick Bosa, but he didnt even play in his final season
Funny how different everyone sees Young
Rjanyg : 12/13/2019 7:19 am : link
I personally see Z’Darius Smith. Similar size, versatile, relentless, strong pass rush with counter moves, might be better against the run.

Either way, I am hopeful he is a Giant next April.
Just the comparisons to these great players shows

he is in an elite category. Like many I want him in blue. He would add another piece to a decent DL and make that unit a lot better With Williams (if he re signs) Lawrence, Golden, Hill and Tomlinsen, a lot of the needed pieces for a great DL will be in place. His pressure off he edge would add to the effectiveness of the pressure we get up the middle. Golden gets a lot of effort sacks and the chaos Young would cause would help Golden. But if we don't get him, its not like the edge rusher well is dry. If we win a couple of games and slip we would end up with a starting tackle, or Simmons in Round 1 and a good edge rusher in round 2.
Reminds me of Vernon Gholston..

Amazing how they contradict each other.

Makes me think some of these guys don’t do the research necessary to evaluate a player. But yet they all have opinions.
It’s mostly just crap.
scouts love player comparisons, even if they're wildly inaccurate ways

It's an easily digestible way to sum up a player (as best you can). Nothing wrong with it, where people lose their minds is when they think they're comparing talent level rather than skillset and athletic profile.
I hate comparisons
Biteymax22 : 12/13/2019 9:21 am : link
Let Chase Young be Chase Young. Its clear he's the best pass rusher in the class and should be the pick at 2 (if we stay there), that's all we really need to know.
Why are you linking shit from walterfootball? I actually like his

Young reminds me of Mike Tyson the most.

And some of these scouts could be talking him down for reasons.

Yea people can nitpick where he stacks up relative to the other elite pass rushers in the league, but the fact that there’s a consensus about his talent level being in that class of players bodes well for the Giants if he’s the pick.

Seems like another example of the latest being the greatest.

When you factor everything in,not just physical talent,I thought Garrett and Chubb were better prospects.

If he's in that company
